Been keeping an eye on this and having watched the video I have a few thoughts if you want to hear them!
Firstly, the story section is too long I think - nearly a minute goes by and all we see are words! Maybe shorten it a little. Here's what I'd write:
"Our Sun is dying...
No-one knows how, or why...
But time is running out.
Our only hope
Is to find another Star."
I'd suggest a maximum of 20 seconds to get through all that! A lot of people make this mistake btw - their videos include things like an overly long story intro, or showing the options screen or something.
Honestly, people do not care about these things! They want to see what game they'll potentially be playing!
Try to keep the video to a max length of about a minute - people's attention spans are short!
Just my opinion of course!
As to the gameplay footage - my first thought was 'I hope those energy bars aren't going to be there on the final game.'
Mainly because they obscure the view of your ship.
Consider putting them at the top of the screen. If the score is in the top right of the screen, for example, then put them on the top on the other side
And make sure people know what they are (shields/energy - whatever - I have no idea!)
Also, I think the GUI looks ok-ish but could do with some more polish - here's a free space GUI set done by a former GameSalad member (it's why I remember it!) - maybe it'll help?

Finally, it all looks a little 'squashed' - are we seeing the whole screen during the gameplay sections?
I did like the music (but it's from a film isn't it?) and the way the logo appeared, 'Alien' style!
Hope you take this as the constructive criticism it's meant to be! I know you've worked hard on this, and want to see you get a decent shot with it!
Cheers,

Thank you! I really appreciate the criticism! I could see what problem with the storyline, I just wanted to incorporate the story in it some way since it's a large part of the game. I might just leave that just in the game though to people who wanna see it. A lot of it was used to go along with the music also. I also planned on making those bars go on the left side of the screen instead of the bottom, since I've been hearing a little about that. Although the top sounds a bit better! I'll also look into that GUI set, I won't actually use it, but I'll take some ideas from it and make something like it. And yeah, the screen was a little bit cut off in the film, I didn't find it necessary to fix though since you could already see what was going on in the game, regardless. Thank you for the criticism though! I really appreciate it, I'll see what I can do!
Having trouble with your game? Sounds like a personal problem.
Most of my games are inspired by music. I hear a track and envisage the game trailer before I even start on the game, and that informs the look, vibe, game mechanics that I want to get into it.
Any music in one of my trailers is also in the game - I cut it down though, as a trailer of several minutes ends up with 'filler'.
The music you chose has a long build up, so I understand why you did what you did! Additionally, you probably don't have the right to use it, which makes it another bad choice for a trailer (the track is awesome - just not legal to use like this as far as I know!).
Do a search for 'epic', or 'battle', or 'space' - there should be plenty there you can use
Great news about the GUI, look forward to seeing the changes!
Remember - think of your game trailer like a film trailer - you have to get people really excited to want to play your game, so make it as good as you can!

That's true about the music. It wasn't mine. I wasn't really making a profit off of it though, so I didn't think that it would be *too big* a deal, I'll see if I can get some other music from the site though if it's a problem, I actually do have some game soundtrack in Galastar that could fit in category of "epic", so I could probably use that actually!

I agree with shortening the text/story part.. and not a fan of the ship going behind the hud.. not really sure of a solution for that.. maybe it's ok I'm just not used to it..

I often recommend this place for totally free but excellent music you can use in your games: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/
