And yea I agree that GameSalad may get some bad rep because of all of this. And the influx of people in the community will probably be the ones looking for a get rich quick opportunity.
He deleted his listing on apptopia. Not sure why but I am 99% sure that it has NOT been sold. I had a little contact with him however he didnt say much. I asked him how he got his app in the top and he just said "I am good at promoting" I am sure he also reads this thread. Hi!
Wow, this is very interesting! Because if Apple has actually taken down his account, they likely won't pay out his share (at least I can't imagine that they don't have an appropriate clause for cases like this).
That would mean the entire investment for getting up there is lost *and* the money from the real customers also.
I have to agree with this. The fact that a game with such horrible ratings suddenly skyrocked to the top of the charts, which consists of nothing more than a template with a pause button, could cause some reputation problems with GameSalad.
Agreed, this is only going to damage GameSalad's reputation.

I'd like to think that people will blame the person and not the tool

Yes if they were smart.. but unfortunately there's a lot of… Any ways - this and Flappy Birds also being taken down.. something fishy but nothing is coming out!

I'd like to think that too, but GameSalad is getting named a fair bit in the various reports and articles.
The tone of the Guardian article almost gave me the impression that they thought GameSalad was somehow implicated in this dastardly scheme ) mentioning "GameSalad" by name no less than six times.
And nothing says 'guilty!' more than ending an article like this:
"Neither GameSalad nor the developer of Red Bouncing Ball Spikes, Louis Leidenfrost, responded to requests for comment."

People would have still been suspicious of it like they are with flappy bird, but an unedited template at No1 just screams SCAM!
Although i'm glad that he is creatively lazy and got caught out. 8-X
It’s not a bug – it’s an undocumented feature

With estimated 20.000+ purchases per day (see here: http://thinkgaming.com/app-sales-data/5844/red-bouncing-ball-spikes/ ) and 8 days in the charts, this was a lot of money...
he is also selling his android version now which has only 35 downloads. how is this not suspicious?

Either someone else wants in on the action or he has now changed his name to "Oscar Pineiro."
#10 of top paid games. Was completely gone and now shot up again. Definitely has to be a legit rise to the top...
