neoman Posts: 826@InovaTech You can install Inkscape but it won't run - at least without a few preparations ... I haven't tried it on 10.9 but have a read of this and the solution might get it going for you ... This worked for me on 10.8 even though I ended up using GIMP and not Inkscape ... I have not upgraded to 10.9 just yet so can't give you the complete answer ... Please find the link below ... Good luck

colander Posts: 1,610I can confirm Inkscape works on OSX Mountain Lion with the installation of XQuartz

neoman Posts: 826Yes that is what I meant when I said 10.8 ... I think it will work on Mavericks 10.9 too but have not tested it myself ... ;-)

colander Posts: 1,610@InovaTech I haven't upgraded to 10.9 myself so I haven't tried to run Inkscape on it but this article shows you how. http://grammarofdev.blogspot.com.au/2013/10/how-to-run-inkscape-in-os-x-109.html

colander Posts: 1,610@InovaTech I have now upgraded to os x 10.9 (Maverick) and Inkscape is working without problems. When I run into problems like this I google for answers and so far I have been able to get Inkscape, Audacity (Free audio program), etc to work.

neoman Posts: 826If you have XQuartz installed and followed the instructions in the link above there is no reason for it not to work as all you would need is a compatible X Server to run any X11 apps ... I am still on OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion so can't confirm how it runs on OS X 10.9 Mavericks but @colander confirmed it runs ok ... When I upgrade to Mac OS X 10.9 in a little while once I am comfortable that GS officially supports it I will do a clean install of Inkscape on Mavericks and let you know ... All I can say is that there are no technical reasons for it not to run. I suggest you review the steps in the links above and confirm you did everything correctly ... Good luck ;-)
