I'd like to see a consumer orientated site to advertise game salad games.
To help promote your game once you have made it.

Reviews, videos, new releases, top sellers etc

I think there should be a cost of 5 promo codes for every game submission. These codes can then be used as incentive for people to return to the site.

Simple stuff to start with, and see how it goes.

Whilst i'd be happy to design the site, it would be great if others could contribute (server, database, server-side programming etc)

Do you think it's a good idea? and would you help such an effort?

    I have a game review section at my website. I was thinking about adding iPhone game reviews to my website, but I'm not sure if there's a conflict of interest. I'm a game developer too and basically I'm in competition with you.

    With that stated, my reviews would likely be tough... but fair.

    ...and then there's the GameSalad Textbook... which is more important to the community? Should I be doing reviews or should I be creating a book?

    This is tempting... Why not just set up a killer CMS(content management system) site like Joomla or something similar. There's lots of great templates out there to use. :) I'm pretty proficient with Joomla. Has anyone else used that before?

    GS Games do need some extra boost in exposure. I might be interested in setting something up. I just can't devote a lot of the time/energy needed to do videos/reviews. Maybe a written review now and then. :) But if there are a dedicated group that can log on and keep things flowing. I think the traffic would come.

    Ta jweaver911. No it's not iWeb, just a mock up in freehand (it's just one big image at the mo).

    EDIT - That example looks good, i'll look into it, but if i end up making this myself i may have to stick to what i know. (please read the 'very ROUGH' sentence :)

    I like what mr.funk has done, nice and simple (but like jweaver mentions), for this type of layout, you'll need someone to maintain on reviews.

    IMHO, I think this is something that Gendai should take on.
    Perhaps give us an option to include links to our games through our 'manage portfolio' page and they can just pull some of the stats and query their database to have page dedicated on their navigation for 'the salad bar'.

    @rdcube i agree, but i guess they have bigger fish to fry. I was planing on make the reviews visitor driven, or a simple star system. See how it goes...

    I think this is a great idea, although us reviewing Gamesalad games would be a bit biased, but I think some 'official' reviews would be necessary, otherwise people could just look at iTunes for stars and user ratings.

    Even reviews such as Touch Arcade would be good. They barely delve into the games in reviews, but they get the job done.

    Looks like we're going from hardly nothing at all to a wealth of opportunities. Can only be good for us all.

    We have plans for something like this on the www.GSProForum.com site...just not enough time to build it right now. Unix Server is in place with PHP mySQL support.

    An example site/layout design we were thinking about:

    The images could then be nice big game icon graphics...and then each icon links into a custom game page...with screenshots and info...along with a link to the iTunes purchase page. Or the icon graphic could link over to the developers own support website for the app.

    Each user could then use a predesigned page template or design their own HTML layout within their game page...much like a blog page...and then also link over to their other games.

    Once the GSProFOrum site is built...we could create a separate URL for the general public to find the same info and mirror the site over to it with a separate unique presentation skin.

    This would be completely independently operated (from Gendai) and would be TOTALLY FREE to users and consumers. We all need promotional help with our titles. Maybe this could be the first step.

    Private Message me there on GSProForum.com if you think you might be interested. We'll cover all hosting expenses...and rely on the community to keep it policed and supported...somewhat of an Open Source type of situation. If you don't have PHP scripting skills...that's okay...we can assist in that...as we have 2 expert PHP programmers on our development team.

    @synthesis damn it. I've already started to run with this. Registered the domain, built a few pages (asp), set up the database, server etc. This was exactly the kind of offer i was looking for at the start, but now i'm invested. Bit of a shame, but i guess the result will be the same.

    And yes to confirm saladgamers.com will be TOTALLY FREE (except for the donation of 5 promocodes to keep the competition running)

    We could still have the saladGamers.com be the "public/app user" skin...and the GSPro site be the dev/"suedo-backend" skin.
