I consider this is a game changer!

Apple Looking To Charge 10X The Normal Amount For iAds
http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-iad-rates-2010-4

According to the article... it seems that an expanded ad goes for $2 and developers will get 60% of that. That's a $1.20... a little bit less than the $1.40 from a $1.99 game. THAT'S INSANE. It means that I can give the game away for free. If they click an ad once in the lifetime of the game... JUST ONCE... it's like they paid for the app. Any "clicks" after is a lot MORE MONEY than typically made from the sales of games... which are usually sold for 99¢-$1.99.

It's a much better business model, as I can give my games away for free... but make more money!

I think that GameSalad should support iAds as soon as the feature is released.

    this looks very very interesting.
and if its just a "1 click" feature, where you don't have to code lots of things to add this to your game. this will be awesome.

Oh, you were thinking of using iAds to promote your games? From what I've read... Apple seems to be pitching it to big advertisers. Accounts in the millions of dollars.

I suggest a different route. Use AdMob.

Step 1) Create a game that uses AdMob ads.
Step 2) Use "House Ads" to promote your other apps, or simply convert your earning into advertisements to appear in other apps.

I think that's a way to get advertisements on the iPhone without any initial start up costs. The problem is that GameSalad doesn't support AdMob, so you'd have to figure out a way to create an app with Xcode or some other app authoring program. You could also just buy advertisements from AdMob.

they are definitely not thinking on the app developers as clients for the iAd.
the article points out on AT LEAST $ 1 million to advertise on iAd.
they are looking at the big guys.

You would think they would want us to advertise on iad?? Admob is great though if you know how to advertise (:

Just read the article and it said "$2's" per click. What the ****!!!!! As an advertiser that is a horrible deal. Just go to admob and pay .05 per click( You don't have to ppv). You can't profit from a $2 click + Every view will cost a couple pennies. My god that sounds horrible for the advertises but great for the developer (:

Wow that sucks "tshirtbooth". I've advertised with admob before for some affiliate products, and your money will literally go away in a hour. My $100's was gone in about 35 minutes (This was a targeted ad). If you can profit from your ad on admob then enjoy the thousands of dollars you'll earn.

I spent $50 bucks to try it and it didn't help at all - even though they reported that 1200 people or so clicked the add which took them to my app in the appstore.

I've targeted a percentage of my admob ads to 'house ads' to promote some of my apps in the past. I've had days where I got 3000 - 5000 clicks on my house ad, resulting in a very very minimal increase in sales.
