Hi, for the record, my 1st mini app - Mega Clock Alarm Date & Timer Deluxe - is still waiting for review, hopefully that'll be in the iTunes store in a day or so.

In the meantime, I'm carrying on with my 2nd mini app (my 3rd app in total) - another one which will be joining a crowded category and app type like the last one... (I know, so please don't berate me about it!! ;-) and I know it'll probably not be too popular either, if at all, like the Mega Clock... and I'll say the same thing as I said about that: I had to get it out of my system so I might as well publish it...)

Anyhow, the next 3 or 4 mini apps to follow will be relatively original to me...(so there!!)

So back to this one, my third app but 2nd mini app, called Mega Conversion Calculators Deluxe: here's a progress video so far for your interest... there's a lot of coloured fields which will be transparent eventually, (the pink and other coloured fields at the bottom, for instance) and no calculator or proper dragging yet, but I'm on to it... hopefully it should all be finished in no more than two weeks, I guestimate...

Btw, for interest, the notes section and the calculator sections will be able to be swapped, if required by the user.

P.S i don't know why the video keeps going out of focus during playback, sorry about that... I suspect it was iShowU HD playing up again when I was recording rather than Quicktime when publishing to YouTube...

Looks nice! Keep up the work!

P.S -- I'm searching the App Store every day for your clock app to go live. I'll be the first to download.

Glad you're looking out for it... hope you're not disappointed when you get the app! ;-) It should be any day now... I'll post it in the main Mega Clock thread when it's ready - hopefully you'll see that.

Hi, here's a second progress vid. of the Mega Conversion Calculators Delux app for the iPad, I thought you'd like to see.

It should be finished within three or four days, so hopefully it'll all be up and running in the iTunes store in approx. 10 days, so I'll keep you posted for your interest.

@Braydon_SFX @timolapre1998 Thank you both… I'll keep going, cheers… (I seem to be on a roll at the moment… even found time to start to update the iPad page of my website...) :-)

Hi, progress update: well, it's taken more than 4 or 5 days to finish, as I estimated… I should have known the complications to come 8 or so days ago…

With 25 different types of conversions, each with 8 to 30 selections each, I needed rules for changing image, etc for each of the selections, then stuff for each of the 12 actual calculator selections reacting to any one of those 700+ headings, etc, etc… I think GSC reached its limit after I tried to copy so much stuff from one of these calculation selections to the next… spinning wheel for over 5 minutes, I force quit and it had strangely saved what it had already copied… approx. 5%…. so now I have to break it down into smaller chunks and activate with booleans, otherwise I'll be waiting until next year for stuff to copy into other actors…

Still, having said all that, the laborious programming concerning all the entries has been done, just need to split it all, as I said, then do all the tables (another fairly lengthy process, 25 tables, a few as large as 60 rows x 61 columns)…

Hopefully this will all be wrapped up and ready to publish some time next week now.

I don't know why I called this one – and my previous one – "mini" apps because neither have been anything near mini… ah well, the ones to follow are definitely mini… by comparison… I think… :-)

Progress update: I've finally finished all of the programming apart from the calculator conversion stuff and doing the tables.

At one point doing the rules I actually thought it was such hard going I considered abandoning the project, but of course with the amount of work I'd already done on the app, that would have been silly…

Anyhow, I persevered, and with a "fair wind" I should have Mega Conversion Calculators Deluxe completely finished by tonight.

A "D'oh" moment a few hours back: I only need one column for each of the 25 tables, not the same amount of columns as rows… (I thought I needed the figures based on 1 of each and every one in a category, if you see what I mean; but I just need the first column of each of the 25 types, and with simple equations can get any conversion sum from those).

OK, I'll plough on to hopefully have it ready for publishing tomorrow.

And I won't be calling any future apps "mini" until I'm almost finished with it… if this app in mini, I take my goldfish for walks. ;-)

I've attached a latest screenshot for your interest.

Looks great! Love reading these updates as it's always nice to see progress and hear what's currently being worked on.

In regards to "mini" -- I know! With all of my project I think that they'll only take a month, maybe 2. I've now learned that I need to multiply that by at least 2, sometimes 3 to get a close date for release. Things either get in the way, parts take much longer than expected or some other personal event occurs. Frustrating at times, but it's important to always pull through!

Cheers, Bray; and personally, giving regular updates on a current project seems to add to the incentive to finish, I'm finding; I'm certain that's the same with you and others too.

That's it – keep going to the end! That's why it's so important to pick a project that is interesting to you before you start, isn't it, otherwise it's too easy to lose interest. :-)

Progress update: the amount of extra work to finish this - including 25 tables - had me almost silently screaming at times, and I began to sort of hate this app with the vast amount of laborious programming!

Anyhow, somehow, I'm on the last leg of the journey… this is a complicated app, and as I say, something I should have realised at the beginning… mind you, if I had, I might not have started it at all…

So about another hour tonight, and tomorrow should have it finally finished and ready to publish. Quite frankly, I'll be pleased to see the back of it now…. and start on another of my apps which is a twentieth less complex…

If you're interested, check back to this thread in a week or so and hopefully I would have reported that Mega Conversion Calculators Deluxe is finally in the app store. :-)

I never really think how much time and effort that goes in developing these type of apps. Great work. :)

Hi @richcoy You can put your Table entries in the cells with their line breaks as you require by using alt return.

Thanks, @BazookaTime, it took a couple of days for me to finalise the design of it. :-)

@LeonardDeveloper Cheers, Jack. :-) I've a few more utilities up my sleeve but they really won't see the light of day until (or if) GSC has more aspects the apps would ideally need (bringing in a photo from the iPad, for instance, or improved handling of text strings). Still, I've go enough of other sorts to be getting on with, I guess...
Edit: I've just remembered a couple of other utility apps still to do in my list that'll be OK to go as is… I'll do a few more puzzle and lifestyle apps first I think though, keep it varied!

The laborious, seemingly never-ending, amount of programming in this app drove me mahahad, I tell you….

Few hiccups, one major one being I didn't have any emails for almost 3 weeks, I couldn't get into iTunes Connect for certain reasons (partly due to not being able to send or receive emails & my password suddenly not being recognised), but all those things solved now; plus I jumped onto another project without this one being completely finished.

Anyhow, it's finally generating and I'll be glad to see the back of this one… even my major projects won't be so laborious, I'm certain…

Hopefully, if all goes well, it'll be in the iTunes store in a week, I'll post here when it is… (I know, I said that 3 weeks ago… ;-) )

On to the next one fairly soon, a straightforward entertainment app… bit pointless but someone, somewhere might like it… more details to follow…. I'm also working on a word puzzle game and that's coming on quite nicely.

Right, it's quarter to two in the morning here in the UK and I guess i'm rambling half-asleep so I'll shut up now! Goodnight. :-)

Rock on, @gyroscope! It's always hard to finish up an app but you've got some perserverance it sounds like and we're excited to see this one in the App Store.

Thanks very much, @tatiang :-) I did have to pull out all the stops re: perseverance/endurance with this one, to be honest; several times the thought entered my mind to just forget it…. it's not even going to sell well! Still, something I had to do, get out of the way, and I did learn a few things too…

Waiting for Review, iTunes Connect tells me, so soon wash my hands of this one… ;-) (Having said that, I'm going on a week-long marketing "spree" using all the promo codes to send to reviewers once this third app is tucked away, not just for this, but my first two as well…)

Anyhow, I'll post here when it's in the store, thanks for your interest. :-)

    @Braydon_SFX Thanks a lot, Bray. :-) I'm tempted to say: "You ain't seen nothin' yet…" but I won't… drat, I have…. ;-)

Seriously, my apps will arrive fairly quickly now that I've got things organised… so many of the smaller ones are half-done anyhow, and the word puzzle game (that I'll be starting a progress thread about in a week or so) has come together surprisingly quickly… a lot to do still, but that prospect seems a tall hill compared with the mountain I climbed with this one!

I'm rather pleased with it and will try out IAP for the first time in it; I'm hoping it's going to be quite popular… although, before that, I've still got 3 or more mini apps to get out of the way….

    ----------------

Btw, I've updated my website if you or anyone else would like to take a peak at; still a lot to do but it's getting there, bit by bit, piece by piece. :-) ………... ↓
