Shouting At Horses - Sports Management Game

G'day everyone, I'd like to introduce my first ever game that I recently released.

It's called Shouting At Horses and it is a free sports management game for iOS where you take on the role of a racehorse trainer.

I made this in my spare time having never tried anything like this before. I'm not sure how many other Sports Management games have been made with GameSalad so I hope that I have made something unique and fun!

The biggest challenges I found were finding that balance between making a game that is too and and too hard. Also, balancing the simplicity required for handheld devices with having a sports management game that required enough detail for the player to not just rely on luck to win.

Feedback is always welcome and appreciated.

Thanks,

Joel

Thanks for all the kind words.

Even after countless hours testing and a few updates I'm still finding a couple of minor bugs here and there. Will need another update!

I reached my first milestone of 500 downloads on the weekend. It's a small step but pretty exciting nonetheless.

It's a simple game, but surprisingly detailed and requires a lot of strategic thought to succeed.

The game is much more smooth with iOS 7, in particular the motion of the horses running, it really looks fantastic.

Cool game! Just one thing, I would disable the glossy app icon, looks (on iOS7) way better without IMHO. This is only for iOS6 devices, but still.
You should also look into universal builds, but other than that, good work :)
Excuse my ignorance, what are universal builds?

It's an optimized iPad & iPhone/iPod Touch build in one binary ;) So if you play it on the iPad it uses the fullscreen and does the same on iPhone & iPod Touch.
Silly me, I did know that. It was a case where I was learning whilst I was making it and I just didn't plan ahead to incorporate all the devices. My next app will no doubt have this.

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.

I've just spent the last couple of hours playing your game... And really enjoyed it. It's a really well designed and put together light sim. I really like how you actually have no control over the horse once the race gets underway, and that you have to just watch it and hope your training and pre-race plan works.

I really enjoyed watching my little horse barging it's way through the field :)

You can be proud of what you've created... It's Nice to see something like this created with GameSalad.

You need to get some targeted mentions on horse racing forums and websites to peek the interest of potential users who are interested in the subject matter... as the game is definately worthy of bigger download numbers if aimed at the right market. It's a niche audience, but one that will probably really enjoy your game if they know about it.

Thanks mate. I've had pretty good recent success here in Australia becuase it is peak season for horse racing (particularly in Melbourne) and I've been meaning to target forums and horse racing communities more but just haven't got around to it.

    Thanks for the feedback!
