I have been reading the Apple Publishing info in the Cookbook at http://cookbook.gamesalad.com/tutorials/3/parts/12 but it looks like I have already done most of the first two pages but I am unsure about it. Apple's website appears to have changed a bit since this was written.

I have got my game to the stage where I am ready to publish. In development I set up the GameSalad Viewer I created an App ID using my website name and added GSViewer i.e. "com.xxxxxxxxxxx.gsviewer" as instructed. Do I need a new App ID?

On Apple's developer website on the Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles page in the left navigation column in Provisioning Profiles/Development I have a profile called Viewer and no profile in Distribution. When I click on + to add a profile should I be choosing App Store or Ad Hoc? The cookbook says App Store but i want to test it on devices first can this be done if I choose App Store?

Sorry to bother people with this basic stuff, this is my first time and it is as confusing as hell.

@zoope Thanks for your help but I have seen that and used it to set up the viewer on my device as stated in my op. Now I want to publish and this is where I am getting confused.

Considering I have already done everything necessary on the Apple Developer site to run the viewer do I need to do anything else there to publish my app?

Writing my game is the easy part understanding all the publishing crap like certificates, keychains, bundle ID, App ID, provisioning profile, developer profile, iTune Connect, etc, etc is very confusing and that is just the Apple stuff.

I feel like I know so little I don't even know what to ask. I have a Provisioning Profile which was set up for the Viewer but I think I need a Distribution Profile is that correct or are they the same thing?

You will need a Development provisioning profile for GSViewer.

And trust me, the time you will spend understanding the certificate generation etc will be well worth it.

Best to spend a bit of time watching and reading tutorials/videos.

Yes I have already, everything I can find. I can't find any clear info on the publishing process which matches Apple's current website so I am just going to start and see what happens.

If anyone can add to this thread please do.

Yes every app for the App Store needs it own app ID. Use a distribution profile for App Store submission. For general testing you can use the wildcard profile and a development or adhoc cert. see my videos on this.

I followed this last night and it got me up and running. I was able to submit my first app to the app store just waiting on approval now. Hope this helps.

@FryingBaconStudios Thanks Dave I have watched the first minute of so of your videos and it looks like it they are exactly what I have been looking for.

I have some image issues now which I need to resolve before I continue. I will start a new thread for these and then get back to this.

@Thedarkfox thats great hopefully with Dave's vids it will all go well for me.
