Nice looking app @Troby but call me crazy, isn't using a real marker on top of an iPad kind of financially dangerous? Won't it bleed through the paper onto the device?

@anatomyofdreams - just use the screen as your paper! That way, you won't have to worry about it bleeding through the paper. :P

No this is not an issue, obviously you don't get your kids using the app with a sharp pen. A simple soft tipped marker is ideal, if the user is pressing so hard that the ink bleeds through the paper that is still ok as it just wipes off!

There are instructions in the app to not use a permanent marker or sharp pen as it might scratch.

My three kids have used it solidly for a week or so on and off with no issue.

I think it is a very cool idea and looks very polished. However, I can see some parents avoiding it due to the use of a marker. I have young kids, not sure I would trust them with a marker and an iPad.

A few things here - Congrats! - nice idea - it's like a light table - used to use one of those a lot early in design career. Cool :)

Hey and you can use a 'magic eraser' to get your iDevice nice and clean - gets anything off and makes it all new again. You would be surprised how you can make a MacBook look like new when you get all the grub off.

You can use markers that are 'washable' too :)

But then I have seen what kids can do with permanent markers too X_X

Nice! I started an exact app like this a while back, but I had to drop it because I used a random marker I found around the house and it bled and stained the textured screen protector of my iPhone :))

I didn't even bother trying out different types. I'm glad you got it sorted out on your end though! :)

Interesting, I had a look around and nobody was really doing anything like this on the App Store..
I already have an update ready for Tracebook too.

Does everyone think $1.99 is too much to charge for this app?

Loving this one. Price depends on how many images you have in there? It doesn't say anywhere and I think it should for its a selling point.
I don't have young kids anymore but I would buy it if I had.
Did you do the drawings yourself?

I think $1.99 is a good price point.

I like the idea and you can keep updating with more things to trace, obviously as others have pointed out its a little dangerous in certain hands so mb add a disclaimer that you will not be held responsible for any damaged caused to your device while using this app :P

I think this is a great idea for an app. I think it's good at $1.99 so good luck with sales.

Going to try in-app purchase / unlock after reading this post on Mashable a few days ago. http://mashable.com/2013/10/08/state-of-paid-apps/

Looks like the free-way is the only way to fly!

Booo to your article @toby :P. I understand it all but I still rather pay .99 or even 1.99 for all future content and not have to worry about it. Instead of paying .99 for every new level or some crap like that. Oh and ps nice app :D
