Search Grids for iPad Released

I have released "Search Grids" for the iPad. This game simulates the use of a metal detector. You move your character around different environments and find valuable items. There is a viewer in the upper right hand corner of the screen that indicates when you have found something. The game will also emit a beep noise when you are near an item or found an item. The higher the pitch is the more valuable the item is. You can find gold and silver rings, pennies, nickles, dimes and quarters. There are some hard to find items as well but you will have to find out what they are. Lastly there is at least one "Easter Egg" to be found (hahaha). Have fun and keep on metal detecting!

    Hi @dimps620

Search Grids - a good title and it sounds a really neat game... any chance of a link? (More people will be willing to take a look at it rather than searching). :-)

Edit: I've just found it in the store, I'll put the link up for you:

Just taken a look; looks a really good game, addictive I would think. Really nice idea too. Congrats on finishing it and best of luck with sales. :-)

Thanks for the link. I'm into metal detecting and searched the app store and saw that there wasn't any app out there that simulates swinging a metal detector. It is easy to come up with ideas with something you really know. What I like about metal detecting is that I can go down to the beach and throw the head phones on and listen for the beeps. I tried to simulate this through this app. I announced the app on a couple metal detecting forums and got some good feedback. I have had a lot of request for android version. I need to invest in the pro version to get my android and free versions out. I wanted to experiment with iAds as well and see how that goes. I'm close to finishing another app as well. Hope to roll it out at the end of September. It has been a little bit of a learning curve dealing with the bundle ids and certificates but I think I got a good grasp on it right now. Should go a little smoother the next time around.

Metal detecting sounds a really interesting (and time-consuming) hobby, @dims620, and I can understand that if you've a passion for something it'll inspire a creative project with enthusiasm, like your game you've made.

Sounds like you've planned well for the future versions, etc; best of luck, especially sticking to a schedule - if you're anything like me, time will slip away and you'll not keep on track! But hope you do.

Back to metal detecting - that's something I considered doing many moons ago.... although never did get around to trying it... for interest, have you discovered anything of historical interest? And do you prefer beaches or the countryside for your detecting?

I live about 5 minutes away from Lake Erie's beaches. Beaches are honey holes for lost items like coins and jewelry. If you have a decent detector you should be able to find lots of goodies. Two years ago gold was selling above $2000 and ounce. That summer I found several gold earrings, necklaces and rings. I made several stops at the local gold buyer and had my metal detector paid for in one summer. There are though an army of guys that hit the beaches every morning scanning every square inch of popular beach spots. I have gotten to the beach at 6 AM and still have two guys already detecting on the beach. I went up to Hampton beach in the summer and around 7 PM I was going to head home and there were metal detector guys coming from every direction. Pretty competitive out there on the beaches. You probably can do well on high profile beaches that have thousands of people on them. Finding historical places to detect isn't that easy to do. Many places are off limits and you usually have to get permission to detect on private property. These days my time is limited for this but I still enjoy going out there and finding stuff every once in a while.
