Testing on device - lost, confused and alone :(

Hi all, delighted with my move to GS, a ready to test on my device, but nothing i see looks like any guides I've found!

After a struggle I have an adhoc certificate from apple for my app.

But when i try and publish my game from GS it takes me to the website and uploads my game there - i don't want that, i want to test locally.

I do not have a pro license for GS yet.

Please can someone point me to an up-to-date guide? What do i need to do to take my GS project and test it on my iPad/phone

Thank you

Going through the website first is correct. It needs to be uploaded to the GameSalad servers to compile into an Apple app that's installable on your device.

Have a look through these few pages in the cookbook. About 4 pages in it'll explain the uploading to the webserver part.

Thank you for the replies, so for each time I want to test on a device I have to go through this whole process? I can't just publish straoght to my mac and test? It's something I had gotten used to with corona.

The process in the video is different to the cookbook? The video looks easier but I don't have those options?

    Thanks

Install GS Viewer! It's for testing before publishing. And you can edit your game, connect your iOS device to the same wifi network your mac is, and within GS a "test button" will appear.

Only publish when your game is complete, not for testing! I think this is what you want!

What do you mean by publish straight to your Mac and testing? Like using an emulator? Ad hoc testing is always the best way to test. I've never used the Viewer because at the end of the day it's just another form of simulation. And no, if you're going by @KevinCross' suggestion above, you will realise that you don't have to go through all those steps each time you want to test the same title on your device.

After you have everything set up, it's a matter of hitting Publish in Creator, waiting, requesting for the .app file from GS, downloading that, and installing to your device. This should only take a couple minutes each time.

Yes Gabfather, it's another form of simulation, but the closest to the real thing, and for quick tests, it's the best way to go.

Thank you all, invaluable advice and i am looking forward to setting this up @Gabfather - thanks for the info, i never knew that but now sounds straightforward! :) Loving GameSalad, shouldn't be surprised the solution was there.
