Animation is slow and gets stretched

Hello, I'm new to gamesalad , and I am trying to create a game in which there is an animated actor(WALK CYCLE), and after adding the animation and previewing the game the animation is pixelized, some frames get stretched and its very slow. I have heard the images need to be the same size but I could not do that as the legs and hands move making the image wider and also I don't know how to make the image size even, as if I did so the image would look weird!
I'm using windows 8, have separate png's for each frame and have used inkscape for drawing!

Best is to lay out all your animations out in an evenly spaced grid, keeping the body in the same place in each cell, and then cut it up. Some frames will have extra space around them.

Regarding the slowness, you can change the animation speed by adjusting the "fps" in your animate behaviour.
