Game Center

Has anybody tried creating/published a new app recently?

I see this:

Game Center
In order for your app to be viewed in Game Center, you must have used GameKit to include the capability in your binary. Then you must enable Game Center for your app by clicking below.

Chefs, any ideas on this? Does anybody know how this feature will come in handy with GS?

GameCenter is Apple's new internal replacement to OpenFeint and GameSpy. It will be implemented in the 4.0 update...probably this summer.

GS would need to incorporate the APIs into the game engine. I wouldn't expect it anytime soon. I suspect it would be a big undertaking to get into GS...if its even possible...as they would need to open up the game engine and let us "out of the sandbox" we currently are forced to play within.

I suspect this year...you would only be able to use GameCenter if you built your apps natively...or if GS allows us access to the source code and then we can incorporate it with custom XCode editing. Probably an extreme long shot of that happening though.

I don't see the need for negativity. Why would it be so hard for Gendai Games to incorporate Apple's new online gaming features into GameSalad? Actually, I think this helps Gendai Games, as they don't have to choose which online standard to support. Apple is doing the heavy lifting for them.
