Publishing Windows 8 without a developer account?

I have no interest at the moment of offering my Windows game to anyone but, I just want it available on my own PC windows 8 platform. Is it possible to just run an app ad hoc on my windows 8 and not have a windows 8 publishing account?

I don't think so because you have to sign it to run it on your Win8 box. In order to sign an app you need a Win8 developer ID that you enter in the GS publishing portal.

Does the windows 8 developer ID have a fee? Is it the developer individual account that costs 49$. Like I said, I just want to create educational activities for students, but not for selling. Just load them to my classroom computers.

I believe the individual account is the one required.
