Creating some games - and blogging about the process!

I've recently started a blog chronicling my ambitious project to create six games in six months - The Distracted Hamster Project:

http://distractedhamster.wordpress.com/

The first game (started on June 1st) is a simple tower defense game, created with GameSalad.

I'm extremely new to this whole game development thing, and I'd really appreciate some support and feedback! :)

Good luck with the project! Are you thinking six complete, fully functional, good enough to release games in six months or something more rough than that? Just curious.

I'm mainly just hoping to get six moderately functional games together; I'm not quite good enough yet that I'd be able to finish a polished game in a month. It'll be a bit rough, I think. Haha! :-P

The main hope is that by the end of December, I'll have six rough prototypes, and then I can choose one or more of these to polish up (and perhaps release) at some point in 2014. :-)

I love how the cannons seem to fire sync with the music :)
Good luck with your 6mos marathon!

Thanks! I did set the cannons up to fire with the music deliberately; it's a bit hard to maintain that when the player can build their own cannons (cannons spawning at different times), but I'm hoping that I can tweak things a bit to keep the timing... Because I'm OCD like that... :-P

@DistractedHamster Should be a piece of cake once we are able to have Prototype Actors access the standard Scene Attributes. It's a low hanging fruit as displayed in this thread, so keep your fingers crossed we'll get it soon enough! Until then we're stuck with Game.Time which.. might not be a very good idea.

I like this as this will give people who are new to GS insight as to what's involved with learning how to make games. Many times we get new users who instantly want to make a major complex game and get discouraged when they realize there is a learning curve. It took me nearly a year to become a power user in GS. It does take a lot of dedication to make games. Great job!

@TheGabfather Thanks for pointing that thread out! Here's hoping we get access to Scene Attributes for Prototype Actors! *Fingers crossed* Though it would also be nice to have a couple of those others... especially "Access to actors/attributes X/Y coordinates"...

@FryingBaconStudios Thanks for encouragement! I'm trying to keep things simple for now, so hopefully the whole "six games in six months" thing will be achievable. Hopefully you guys get some entertainment out of watching me derp around and muck with things. Learning by doing - it's an highly effective, and generally hilarious to watch. :-P
