What is a good mac software to make app logos?

I am making an app and I was wondering if there was a free app logo make that is really easy to use, but at the same time good.

If you just mean logos to use for startup, title screen, trailers, etc., I used Pixen to make mine.

I use photoshop, but that is the furthest thing from free. You could take a look at Gimp. That's free.

Having trouble with your game? Sounds like a personal problem.

Don't forget that Adobe has made Photoshop and Illustrator versions CS2 available for free. Downloadable from their site.

These may be a few years old but offer everything one might need in terms of creating game graphics.

Note that CS2 is reasonably compatible with Windows, it worked fine for me on Windows 7...for Mac however, unless your Mac can run OS X Snow Leopard, then it won't work.

If you search around online you can fine all sorts of PhotoShop Templates that are free for creating icons. They have a bunch of background and border options and then you just add your custom art to it.

You can also Use Gimp. In a lot of ways I find it more user friendly that photoshop and its free and most everything photoshop does can be done with gimp as well. Its even a native mac app now a days.

    Cheers

This is not true (unfortunately), to legally use CS2 you are still required to have purchased a copy of whatever software you intend to use, the version Adobe uploaded to their website (along with serial numbers) were for existing CS2 customers who could no longer install CS2 on new machines as Adobe had retired the CS2 activation servers.

This was widely misreported as Adobe giving CS2 away free, but that's not the case.

@Socks you are right, although the software (including serial numbers) is still publicly available on the Adobe site, it does now state "The serial numbers below should only be used by customers who legitimately purchased CS2 or Acrobat 7 and need to maintain their current use of these products. "

This was not the case back when I looked into it (at that time there was no login or warning), so I retract my above suggestion.

The german site even elaborates on this, explicitly stating that it is an infringement of copyright, making use of the sofware without a purchased license.

I always forget that 1 dog year is equivalent to 7 web years.

I'm not sure why each time this question pops up we don't refer them to one of the many, many threads as this has covered this about a 100 times.

Can we keep a tab or something for "creative" GameSalad needs. There is no question that sound and graphics are a necessity for use in conjunction with GS, so why not keep it on a hot plate where new users can easily find it.

In addendum to the Photoshop CS2 thing: Allways read from the source. Don't make assumptions about what's free on the web and what is not . This misinformation has been spread before. If you want support for products from the source, get the current supported versions.

If you are a business/company always go with a full version. Don't try to take short cuts by buying education editions unless you are a student or teacher. While adobe now allows the education version software for commercial use, you are required to upgrade to the full commercial licence once you graduate, or no longer teach (if you intend to use it non-commercially they don't care).

General rule, do not download a "free version" if it is not from the source or you do not have own a key/license to go with it.
