Really great game, one of your best imo. I am not talking specific numbers but how does this compare in sales to your earlier games like Bumps or Running Wild? Way better/worse?
Bumps and Red Ball of Goo have been our biggest sellers both reaching top 20 in the US so this one is a long way short of those 2 atm with approx 400 sales so far and yesterday we only sold 14 so we expect it to go down to 5 or less a day pretty soon.
You not only need a lot of review sites to pick it up (we only had a brief IGN mention and a TA review along with some lesser know sites) but you also need a nice apple feature.
Running Wild (one of my personal favourites) was a complete flop and has only managed under 300 units to date, we have made a lot more by putting it on DBA as a full game.
Yep I agree. Now I'm experiencing it first hand myself with Jet Point it's definitely a tough nut to crack! Still hoping for some more reviews at this early stage though. I downloading Little Vikings and I think it's great! Love the graphics and the little touches with the shadow effect. Gameplay is fun and the little guys battle cry makes me smile every time Will leave a review tonight...
I can't beleive Running Wild only has 300 thats just crazy...
I think that's still more than my old 'escape artist' game, which admittedly was'nt the best game ever made, but it played ok, had decent graphics and involved some tidy gamesalad rules and transitions. Unfortunately it remains true that getting a big hit requires a very large spoonful of apple luck... lots of months work does not guarantee success but I guess it raises your chances...
Will download Little Vikings now and see it in all its glory.
just played briefly now... (whilst I render a very unexciting video about ocean currents)... tidy graphics, I like the way your thrown into the game quickly and there's no need to explain how to play.... will aim to complete it before the years out.. Good luck with sales guys...
Hi Darren, I've bought your game, and I have to say that I find an awesome game, I could not stop playing until I have passed the 100 levels, I've also collected 99 coins, there is an error to pick the currency of the world 7 level 5, if not get the first pick, then you can never go back to pick it up, because the hero always appears in the doorway, and as complete this level the hero disappears automatically and you can not pick up the coin. You you think of the App Store? seems that it is not profitable right? Your game is awesome, but has few sales ...
I have the same issue with my game Bomii as well. It difficult to get reviews. The games can be awesome but many reviewers require you to pay them to get a spot on their site which is annoying. This game seems pretty dynamic and cool. The App store is a hit or miss sometimes.
Thanks for the information Darren. If a game of this quality is getting 400 sales, that is pretty depressing. Running Wild, 300 sales, is criminal as it is a incredibly unique game.
The iTunes app store is brutal now - it wasn't just 2-3 years ago that you could publish an app, and gain organic sales, and top the charts by having a good, marketable app. Now you need thousands to market your game, and still *hope* that it will become a success.
Competition is fierce, and developers with deep pockets win - this is why we need things like Chartboost, and other marketing strategies available to us, otherwise it's almost impossible to succeed without those tools.

Apple should strongly promote (quality) indie games. By indie, I don't mean an 'indie' studio of 30 people. I mean 1-5 people.
Apple always brags stats of how many apps, developers, and revenue the App Store makes. Well if it weren't for Indies, those first 2 numbers would be ridiculously low in comparison with revenue.
I wish sales were better as we only managed 1 yesterday :P
I think this one will be another Full Commercial Game over at DBA very soon as we're doing very well with the full games for sale and it will give us some funds to sink into another game...maybe Bumps 2.
1! That really is crazy and very sad, and you we're on the front page of Touch Arcade only a few days back! The app store really is a tough place these days.
Darren have you guys considered going free with iads? I know @FryingBaconStudios mentioned that Puck It was doing okay with iads (I'm paraphrasing his words there). I don't know how well it's doing with iads but if you have many more days of 1 sale it may be worth a shot!
The new trend of free to play is now firmly entrenched. Even console games are steadily moving in this direction. This is the new reality. Our strategy was to use iAds and playhaven as a bridge for revenue into our iap. The new challenge is to create games that drives users into your iap offerings. Since we are doing more tables and charging for them we used the free table to drive sales of our future tables. This is the new reality.
Yeah I think my mind has firmly been made up to only release free games with iads and iaps for a while now, I've seen too many great paid games like this one suffer from undeservedly bad sales.
Several others were taken already. It'd be nice if people would take a moment to comment that they took one so others don't have to try every combination only to find that they are all gone.
