Do promo codes count towards rank?

If so do they count the same as a paid DL or 1/2 or something? Anyone know for sure? Or at least have a hunch based on experience?

I am asking because I have been able to keep XMB in the top 100 for racing games for about 10 days now. It dropped out briefly (to 112) so I lowered the price and it came back up. Now I have more promos from an update and am wondering if they will help my rank.

    I wonder if promo codes work for apps that you "remove from sale"?

    It would be nice if the promo codes did count. A good way to test would be release a new game to a slower/smaller category where it is easier to get in the top 100. As soon as it is appoved, throw all 50 promo codes for it on Touch Arcade, Mac Rumors, etc. so they get zapped up quickly and then see where you are the next day or so keeping in mind your promo vs. actual sales. May not be solid proof but it could be a good indicator.

    I am almost positive they do because my iPad game from downloads flew threw the ranks when promos used:)

    They definitely count towards rank. I saw it happen with my app when no sales happened yet. This is why i try to hype my codes all at once
