When you buy a template from the asset store. can you modify the template like put in new actors and different backgrounds or do you just use what you buy
You are encouraged to add! Add! Add! As far as use of existing art and sounds, that will depend on what the creator of the template authorizes (details may or may not be locate in the gs file notes when you open it).
What @RP said. Don't release a template, chances are someone (probably the original creator) released it with those same assets. At the least, change EVERY asset so your game is different, at the most, make it your own game, add features, improve the original design, etc, etc.
When we make templates we see them as a solid foundation to build upon and turn it into your own game, we also sell full games but its recommended to at least change the art.
