- Paid Gig - Looking For An Artist for Short and Long Term Job

Greetings GameSaladers,

Depressed Panda Studios is looking for a new artist to start immediately on our 6 day project (ahem, unicorns), and our ongoing game in development now titled Space Dog Squadron 2 (title pending).

The unicorn job is a paid gig and paid immediately. At this point we just need some small graphics made. Maybe like 10 frames of the unicorn, we have most other assets.

As for the long term job we're looking to bring someone on who can be our full time artist for the game. We're looking for a distinct style. For this game we're looking at a pixel artist. However, almost zero art has been put together yet so if you have a unique art style we're definitely willing to take a look at it. The game is a mix of 8-bit Zelda w/ Borderlands, World of Warcraft, and Mass Effect influences. We have a professionally written script and sound engineers on staff and have significant money being spent on development from 2 different investors. We would love to explain more of the concept of the game after a Non Disclosure Agreement is signed. We would discuss profit share and salary once we get further into discussions. Telecommuting is perfectly acceptable but living in the Seattle-area would give you the leg up.

If interested please send me a message on the forums or email me directly at michael@depressedpandastudios.com.

Of course! We love and support GameSalad. I assume you ask because of our low post number and missing pro badge. Rest assured I've been on the forums for a few months. I'm just a bit more quiet. I also just messaged StraightSaladShooter and requested to be put in the Pro User group as we registered GS Pro 2 months ago or more. :)

If you can't find anyone for the contest a real easy method is to grab real life footage/pictures of a running horse and trace each frame. (rotoscope)

:)) Actually, it was because of the 'professionally written script', which didn't sound like GameSalad code!

Weird, I know I've been a pro member for longer. Actually just checked my invoice. I've been pro since 10/31/12. Jeeze, didn't realize we've been Pro that long.... Time goes fast. =)

I think it's a little weird to be able to buy in art for a contest, not that I think there's anything wrong (if it's within the rules then go for it) . . . just seems odd, in theory if you can get others to produce the art you can also get others to do a little coding for you, in fact you could buy a template with a basic game idea and all the coding in place, then get someone to make the audio, someone to make the art and someone to make some adjustments to the code . . . .

Like I say I can't see anything here that would break the rules, but I can't see it being in the spirit of 'competition' - mind you with $25k up for grabs I might have to get my child labourers working through the night . . 8-X ;)

We found our artist. Thanks for all your questions and comments. We may be looking for a sound engineer in the next few days. Keep a lookout if you're interested. Mods can close this topic if they feel so inclined.
