Backstage missing tabs

Hi, just starting to learn GameSalad, but I seem to have no tabs in my Backstage pane. From what I've read, I should have My Great Project, etc, in there when I start up, but instead it just says "no actors or tables are open at this time." I'm running Windows 8. Am I doing something wrong?
