Chance of getting rejected?

How high is the chance that apple does not accept my app when I send it to them?

It's a little funny game of 3.9MB and all of the artwork I did myself so there's no copyright problems or anything..

And what does it mean if they don't accept it? Will they also nerver accept future versions of the app?

No. It does not work like that. They will reject your app is it does not meet their guidelines. If rejected, they will tell you why it was rejected and you can resubmit it after making changes, or just resubmit to try your luck, to get it approved again.

So they don't reject apps that aren't "advanced" enough? It's just about not having inappropriate content and going to deep into the system?

no they have a rejection criteria for apps they feel are basic junk. It goes something along the lines of

"Thank you for submitting xxxxxxxxxxx to the App Store.

We’ve reviewed your application, but cannot post this version to the App Store because it provides a limited set of features and functionality to users. Applications that offer a limited user experience are not considered appropriate for the App Store, as documented in section 2.12 of the App Store Review Guidelines .

We encourage you to review your application concept and evaluate whether you can incorporate additional features to enhance the user experience. For app design information, check out the videos: “Getting Started video: The Ingredients of Great iPhone Apps” and “iPhone User Interface Design,” available on the iPhone Developer Center .

Alternatively, you may wish to consider a building a web app using HTML5. HTML5 is the major new version of HTML and enables audio and video to play natively in the browser without requiring proprietary plug-ins. Using HTML5, a web app looks and behaves like native iPhone and iPad applications, and using HTML5's Offline Application Cache, your web applications work even when the device is offline. With web apps, you have flexibility to deliver as much or as little functionality as you desire."

I'm sure they have updated their wording as that is over 2 years old from my first app ever submitted but you get the idea. personally after having been in the game for a while I wish they would use that more often. to increase the caliber of everything in the store. but they don't use it much. so if you do get rejected. improve it and resubmit.

I had a client project that was rejected with that reason as well and In my opinion it shouldn't have been, but never the less we just added a mini game to the app and resubmitted and it was accepted.

    hope that helps

    Cheers

Thanks for your great answer! :D

Now in the App Store review guidelines section 2.12 it says: "Apps that are not very useful or do not provide any lasting entertainment value may be rejected"

Do you think a little "beat you own highscore" arcade game does provide enough lasting entertainment?

I'm just asking this because i'm afraid that they reject my game and won't accept any future versions of it if it isn't good enough from the beginning..

Here is my advice: If you never try then you will never know. I have 4 games in the app store (all of the same series) and not one in that series has ever been rejected. Originally I had an app (my first one) and that was rejected, BUT I did not put a lot of time into it. Just make sure you have actually worked on this game for a while, check for bugs and then send it off. Just remember, if you never try you'll never know. :D

You wont get black listed and can resubmit as many times as you like.

Perhaps ad a few screen shots to this post and we can let you know your chances.

yeah man they don't blacklist you from ever having a game on the app store if your fist one sucks. if its done and your satisfied with it then send it in. the worst they will do is say no and tell you why.

And yes an endless single level game where the goal is to get a higher score is fine in concept. I even have one of those. its about more than just the concept. its the presentation and the replay value. are people going to hate ever playing your game again after they set their first high score? .

My advice is stop worry about this being your one time shot to break into the app store and just send it if your happy with it.
