hey gang...ive seen a lot of retro 80's games on the iTunes store that are essentially copies of old 80s games like "defender"....is permission to recreate these retro games needed to legally do this?

SlickZero Houston, TexasPosts: 2,870To create a game, and call it Defender, and have the same art, yes they would. But you won't get permission to re-create a game like that. Unless you were hired by Williams to do it. Or whoever holds the Defender license now.
They can, however, make the same gameplay, and use their own legal art, and call it something else. Just basically make a legal clone.
