Hello, I´m 16 and I live in Spain. 1 year ago, concretely february 2012, I registered myself in gamesalad. I had discovered a brand new world, the world of iPhone/Ipad apps. I was so wondered that I decided to start developing my own game, just for fun, Nothing serious. It was called Multiplayer Tanks. When I finally sent my game to apple nobody believed in me, everybody said I wasn´t going to earn any money or downloads. The first days my app had a few downloads. However, the number of downloads per day was decreasing. As people say: "Hope is the last thing to go" so I continued building games. Now I have 4 in the app store and my benefits las month were 45$, something unbelievable when I started. I started writting this because I want to say thank you to everyone who helped me when I needed it. Hopefully in the future will begin to develop applications at the professional level, I'm thinking of studying software engineering and all this is thanks to GameSalad and it´s fantastic community.

Sincerely,

villewanted

I think software engineering is an amazing field to study! In my first year of university I was in computer science - mostly because I wanted to learn about game making. You have a great attitude toward your work, and that's worth so much in any discipline. Sometimes people prefer to tell you all the reasons why you can't do something - and that's fine, a healthy dose of reality is important. But if you know you have a vision and good ideas, you have to take your goals seriously. If you love what you're doing, it's worth trying to make a living for yourself with game developing.

Most people won't make it big in the app market - but that's not a reason to not try. You can say the same in almost any field where you don't punch a clock for a paycheque. Learn all you can, and stay connected to the GameSalad community, there's lots to keep learning right here :)

I have a relative who started a company a while ago and when things were rough in the beginning people told them to think about throwing in the towel. But they were stubborn and refused to think about failing. Maybe that's a foolish way to be - but then the company took off and they've been set financially ever since. So try to remember that any success story depends on the fool who was too stubborn to give up. Good luck with your game developing and education!

Happy Anniversary on your first year!

Glad you found something you are passionate about, and may this next year bring you even more success.

How about posting a link to the games you have published to the App Store? I'd love to see them.
