Block like pixel art

For this kind of art style, will it make a difference if I turn the resolution independence on or off?
What I'm trying to go for is to keep the blocky retro art style in all resolutions. I don't want it to be blurry.
I just wish to know how I should prepare my first art file for these purposes.
Thanks.

start designing what ever size is suitable for 1136x640 and then reduce 50% for non retina devices. And it will looks clear for retina device.

@OniCraft Hi, to put it a different way, as @creativeapps said, create your art (pixel art or otherwise, makes no difference) as twice the size you want it to appear on-screen. That way you'll have the optimum resolution for both non-retina and retina display devices.

PS Like your pixel art; looking good!

Il just add a comment to this. If you create the artwork in illustrator using the "live paint" tool and a overlay grid (just google how to set it up) then you will have Vector artwork that is infinitely scaleable so you can always resize it.... :-)

I like pixel art, but I didn't make any game with such graphics. Did anyone have the chance to see how pixel art actually looks with Resolution Independance turned on?

DON'T use resolution independence if you're doing pixel art. GS servers will try to reduce the size of the image by using a "bicubic" algorithm instead of a "Nearest Neighbour" one and will likely result in non perfect or blurry images.
