Best graphics & sound bit software for GameSalad?

Hi everyone. I'm fairly new to GameSalad (and app making in general), and I'm in bad need of some graphic drawing software. Something to draw a picture, and then be imported into GameSalad for characters, backgrounds, buttons, animations, etc... do you have any recommendations? Free would be awesome, but I'm cool with a small price tag if need-be. :)

My follow up question, is I'm having the same problem when it comes to sound-bits. Are there any websites and/or softwares that are great for finding and/or making sound clips for my games?

Thanks ahead of time for any feedback, it's MUCH apprecaited. :D

Free: Gimp and Audacity for editing images and sound respectively.

    Indeed, try Gimp, it's free.

I don't know about PC, but on the Mac, Garageband is awesome for making seamless loops of music, and it has some sound effects as well.

For free sounds, just Google that. So many sites that have free music and sounds.

I would advise you to look into Inkscape for 2D casual style art and menus/ user interfaces. It's an ideal entry level tool with great functionality for free.
You might want to read my blog on 2D game art creation http://2dgameartforprogrammers.blogspot.com/ to get some ideas on how to approach Inkscape. I would suggest going back to the earliest posts and start reading from there. Enjoy!

    I use Gimp (version 2.6.11, I don't like the new one) - it's great :)

PowerPoint is actually very simple tool for cartoony graphics..

@sparkania - next you tell me Word makes great art as well... Come on... It's a presentation tool that allows you to combine texts with clip-art and effects... Doing art in a tool like that is like logging trees with a swiss-army-knife... of course... it can be done... but there are a lot easier and purpose built tools out there...
and no... Microsoft Paint is not one of them!

I don't normally subscribe to one-up'ing.. but the commercial break was long.

I have been drawing on the computer since A:Basica.

very few things out there are 100% purpose built, they all require a little bit of Imagination and Ability from the user.. otherwise we'd all be using GS only to create the next Pong.
