Music is being wrongly registered

I'm trying to drag & drop a media wav. file into my menu, to use as a game song... however, when I drop it into GameSalad, it is showing up as a OGG. file instead, and I can't select it for music. I have the Windows version, just incase you need to know that.

Thanks for your help, :)

Try converting that song into an .m4a file before importing into GameSalad. That is the native format for music within the program.

.ogg is the native format for sounds.

Don't know why it's automatically converting it to the sound effect format, but then again, I'm not completely familiar with how the Windows version of GameSalad works.

Try importing a .mp3 and see if that can import as in-game music.

@Chakku Tried MP3, but that didn't work. The online converter I'm using, doesn't allow for conversion to .M4A... either of you happen to know of a free one?

Look for sound and audio converters here:

@RP Thanks for the website... I found a nice converter. However, GameSalad is still registering it as a "OGG" file instead. I guess I can just use it as a sound bit for now... not exactly the correct way of programming my music, but sometimes you have to try to find a work-a-round...lol.

    Thanks again :)

Try to see if it imports properly on a blank project. If that doesen't work, try deleting and reinstalling GameSalad Creator.

    @Chakku

Thanks for the idea. I gave it a try (loading on a new project), but it still loads as an OGG. file. I might try re-installing... but not until I start a project that is for more than just learning the program with.

    Thanks again for the suggestion,

    Your welcome.

I think I actually had the same problem, but I used an App called 'Music Converter' (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/music-converter/id468990728?mt=12) to change it to .mp3, and it worked perfectly. But unfortunately that's a Mac App, and I see that you are using windows.

I do use another app for audio, called Audacity thats primarily for Windows. I never tried converting audio in Audacity; you can give it a shot, but there's no guarantees.

If you know anybody who has a Mac, download Music Converter from the Mac App Store (it's Free) and then convert it and put it onto a flash drive and open it in GameSalad.

Sorry to hear it is not working for you.

    Hope my suggestion works, though.

@SlickZero I am not sure if I should start a new thread. But my question is similar to @Benjamight's
when I drag an MP3 file over to Media it says that the file is not supported as an MP3 and that I need to convert is to M4A or .OGG. I am a total newbie so if I missed an obvious step, my apologies.
And also I apologise if piggy backing on this thread is frownd upon, I figured it might be worse to ask the same question again in the forum.
    Thanks for any ones time

Did you guys get any joy with this? I'm having the exact same problem in the Windows version.
