If you can do graphics yourself it wont be exspensive coding is easy with gamesalad its all about the idea of the game.

I used to spend about 100 USD for most of my games (I make most things myself - code, graphics, sounds), and up to 500 USD for bigger games.

Doing it yourself is inexpensive. Hiring someone to do it is generally not. Even for a simple game you're looking at a lot of hours to design, code, test, redesign, test, and publish.

Yeah I would say an average game would be worth about $8,000 to $10,000 in man hours.

Keep in mind the saying 'you get what you pay for' applies.

If you find someone who will develop an entire game for you for $500 - $600 dollars it's likely going to be poor quality that no one will want to play or purchase.

However if you have a real budget of $8,000 - $10,000 you are more likely to get a good quality game that will be playable, polished and hopefully paid for by players.

I'm afraid there are no guarantees though when it comes to wether or not players actually like your game and pay for it.

As a side note another common saying that applies is 'you can have either quick turnaround, a quality product, or an in-expensive project, pick any two.' :)
