Android apk's are generated as Docs, not Exes?

Hi, having a strange issue with web publishing...
When I download my apk's they are 'documents' with the white sheet of paper icon rather than a 'Unix Executable' with a black tv screen icon. This is preventing me from uploading them to google play store because they generate an error as soon as I try to upload them.
Has anyone got any idea what might be going on here?
Thanks in advance!
Wayne

Are you sending google the unsigned version? You need to send the signed one.

Sending signed. That's right isn't it?
Anyway, it already looks wrong as soon as I download is from GS Publish - the icon is wrong, and OS X calls it a 'document' instead of a 'Unix Executable'.

Yep signed. Does it say .apk? the file does look like paper on mac too. if it's over 50mb that could be you're problem as you need to use their ftp site for larger than that/ reference googleplay developer help section for that info.

Yeah, all that's above board, the app's only 8 Meg so no need for ftp. It's definitely downloaded 'as' an .apk, but all my other .apk's have 'tv screen' executable icons, whereas the ones I have just downloaded have 'sheet of paper' icon.
If you do a get info on each of them, all my other .apk's are 'unix executable' but the new ones are 'documents'.
    ? What have I done?!
