See my videos on my YouTube site GS logic series I explain all about variables in great detail. The whole series is to the right in the playlist section. http://www.youtube.com/user/dsouza41?feature=mhee
One small correction, 'screen' does actually change the colour of an underlying object (to get technical it cancels out + multiplies then cancels out the result), it's the opposite of multiply (which multiplies the RGB values of layered pixels).
To be honest it's not even artistic stuff, it's the world of pedantic technical nerds.
One thing I can't stand is rambling tutorial videos that take 8 minutes before they even open the application, I think you've got the length just right, you get straight to the meat-and-potatoes, get the salient ideas over quickly and efficiently without having to sit through 15 minutes of some guy trying to find an image buried in some folder and then explaining how to select a tool and open a folder.
And the fact that you are actually playing live guitar while doing the tutorial is even more impressive.
More videos ! You don't need to sleep, aren't there drugs you can get to stay awake?
@FryingBaconStudios Hey great videos, one question.... On the Pre-load video, if you make a loading screen, are you supposed to check or uncheck pre-load art? I wasn't 100% certain from the video Also, how can you test for knowing how long to have to loading screen? or is there a guide (eg. 50mb game=4 sec loading screen) ???
As to test for load times publish out an adhoc and don't add a load scene just ad the splash screen logo then see how long it takes to load the first scene with all the art. Then you know how long to make that first scene which will be the load scene. Check preload art for using a load scene. When you uncheck preload the art will load scene to scene based on if it is needed for the scene or not.
Cool video's Bacon. The guitar is getting on my nerves after a while if I may ad a little comment. But then again, I can imagine it is hard work talking and playing at the same time so improvising might be asking to much.
@FryingBaconStudios nice video, will be helpful for many for sure. I'd like to add one thing though and that is that if you import compressed png files into GS (via the GS interface) then those files will be decompressed a bit (increased file size compared to your compressed files). To maintain a lower project file size the previously imported images need to be replaced in the images folder, with the compressed png-files, via "show package content" (what you say you do in the end).
