What software or websites to use to make text for games?

Hi
I am looking for ways to make text to use in games
and I wondered if anyone had any favourite software or online text generator
websites that will produce text with nice effects that can
be used for free. Any suggestions would be much appreciated :)

Cheers

    Hi LudwighHeijden

Thanks for your suggestions :) It's hard to know which programs are the best to use. I have found some online text generator sites and some have great effects eg. cartoon text type effects, but they require a licence to use their text or a fee, and I was hoping to find a good free alternative

    Cheers

    http://www.dafont.com
    http://www.1001freefonts.com
    etc.. (google free fonts)

Check for the fonts that are free for commercial use, download them, put em in your computer's fonts folder, open a program such as the ones that LudwigHeijden suggested, pick the awesome font and write whateva you want then save as .png image.

I would suggest inkscape for good and free... and if you can afford it photoshop for the more professional approach [blending options, layers and endless amounts of effects make it stand out].

Hi Carlblanchet and spriteattack, thanks so much for your suggestions. :)
Carlblanchet - thanks for the font sites, they are great, and to download the fonts and use them with inkscape or gimp is an excellent idea.
