Confused about multi-platform publishing.

Hello, more confusion round here, I'm afraid! I'm pretty much loving the new online publishing stuff, with one caveat. I'm still confused as to how it helps with multi-platform publishing?
On the surface, it looks very much like it's built for multi-platform, all your different devices listed on the left, and each device's specific info gets input on the right.
But what about icons? iOS icons must be square, with rounded corners. You deliver it square, and Apple cut the corners off for you. But on Mac you can have whatever alpha you want in your image. I want to take advantage of this, but how can I upload both to the GS publishing server? It looks to me like I need to create a different game just to have a different icon. Or do I input both iOS and Mac info into the correct device pages on a single game, then upload the correct icon when the time comes?
Have I just answered my own question?
Is that what everyone else is doing?
Thanks
Wayne
