Bundle identifier problem since update to 0.10.00 - only 1 level - no app creation possible

Hi,
So far I created 2 app for iPod with a GS version previous to 0.10.00. That all went pretty well. Now I want to upload an update for 1 of those games since my upgrade to 0.10.00. The problem is that with the old version I must have succeeded in creating a too short bundle identifier (e.g just zzzz instead of zzzz.yyyy). Now that is not possible anymore. I get "Bundle identifier must have more than one 'level' to a bundle name." and I can't create my app. If I choose I longer name, I can create the app but when I upload to iTunes with the application loader I get the message "bundle identifier:zzzz.yyyy differs from prior bundle identifier:zzzz. Is there a way around this so that I can upload my update?

Thx,
Svenson

You may be in a nasty trap here. You will likely have to create a completely new app bundle and prove file etc.

Oh oh. This was not the answer I was hoping for. But it's kind of strange that it's possible to create a short (uncorrect?) bundle identifier via the iOS Dev Center. And that this was no problem for the GS versions before 0.10.00. Is there a way to create this update via an old version of GS?

Got a reply from GS support. Looks indeed like I will have to create a "new" app and upload it to the iTunes store for approval. So that's what I'll do. But to avoid my previous mistake I have to work with the reverse domain style in order to create a correct Bundle Identifier. Only thing is that for the moment I just have a weebly and telenet account. But if I would use that according to the explanation I would have com.weebly.myappname. But isn't that too general? Or can I use the first part of the domain because that's the unique part e.g. weebly.myname.myappname?

I need to know the same, can we just use any reverse domain name style?

it helps if you own the domain, but it's not required. the only reason you want to own the domain is so if someone actually bought it and used the same reverse domain style, there would not be a conflict. plus domains are cheap, like $12 a year.

If I have to create a series of apps on the same domain name, then can I use the same domain type or just add some prefix in the reverse domain etc so it doesn't conflict with the old one

Hi wickedsunny, the different names of your apps will make the name unique. So com.yourdomain.appname1, com.yourdomain.appname2 etc, etc. Hope that answers it.

@jonmulcahy: Thx. I just didn't know whether apple used that reversed URL to make some sort of connection to that domain (and that it needs to be an actual URL). But it's just to avoid conflict in names.
