Hi Guys,
I have been working on a new project.
My wife was playing these on paper during our holiday.
That made me think it should be possible to build in GS and it is.

Here is some info about the Japanese Puzzle or Nonogram: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonogram

The interface is pretty cool. It has snap to grid functions and also a easy way to build files.

Comments are welcome!

The cross hairs is an interesting solution for a small screen size. But I wonder if, to some extent, it kills the point of having a touchscreen? Maybe some kind of zooming feature could be another option?

I was playing the same kind of game a while ago, although I can't remember if it was online or on ipod. I have a feeling it was online... so had it nice easy with a mouse and cursor!

    Zooming is a good idea.
I will get an iPad at the end of this month and am going to focus on that. I hope the boxes are big enough for that screen. Then I will drop the cursor.
    Thanks for the input!

    @LudwigHeijden

your WIP is looking good, Ludwig! Best of luck with getting it finished.

This would definitely work better on the iPad as you suggested. Here's a vid I made a while back of one of my (many) GS projects I started but never finished: it was for a Logic Grid Puzzle and it looks like your puzzle has the same size grid squares as this if done for the iPad; and I can confirm that those sizes work fine for touch screen. (PS the soundtrack is out of sync, sorry about that...)

The bane of the GSC user perhaps! I'm trying to be more strict with myself now, definitely not start anything new, and logically work through a list, not carrying on with any other project until the previous one is totally finished.... it's sort of working at the moment... (the fingers crossed emoticon goes here, the one I can't find....) ;-)

Here's hoping continuing success with your projects, Ludwig!

To be honest, this is another in between project.
But I now have every friday for my main project. The reason why I was looking for GameSalad in the first place. A game where I can really put my heart and soul in.
Not that I don't like making games like this puzzle. I wan't to tell stories through games, thats all.

@HoneyTribeStudios I bought an iPad3 last week. You are right, the crosshairs make no sense there. I will probably make an iPhone version with and an iPad version without the crosshairs.

What do you guys think of the artwork so far. It is all but a sketch but should I leave it in this puzzle book style or make a different style?

Hi guys, since I have to many ongoing projects I thought I'd bring this out as a template. I will upload it to the GS Marketplace soon!

Here is a movie for you:

So did you go for 2 separate versions or find a solution for all size screens?

It is universal. It detects when it is iPhone and than adds the cursor bars. On iPad you can simply click on a box to fill it in. Works perfect!
