Most successful promotion tools?

Hi everyone,

We have just launched our first version of our first app. Jippie!!!

It has been both fun and frustrating in equal measure :) Last night was mainly frustrating as some strange unfixable bug made me go back to a previous version, costing me around 15 hours in wasted time. Eventually we got our new game, Run Free on android though.

Our plan is as follows, first launch a paid version on Android (It is now live)
Now I can finish the lite/free version of the game. Unfortunately it won't make us any money, so the idea is for the free version to promote our paid version until play haven and admob are available for android.

After that we will do a fermium only version on iPhone.

So my questions are:

How apart from submitting the app for review to some of the more important review sites can we gather downloads quickly and economically?

Has anyone tried paid installs (play haven, tap joy, or something like that?)

Has anyone successfully tried ppc programs? Like admob, or iAds?

There are some very successful publishers here on the forum, us newbies would love to hear all your ideas I'm sure.

Ok, to the top for this one.

Any good ideas? I have had both a paid and free version of our game "run free" on android, but would really love your ideas on how to get the game noticed.

I looked into iAd a couple years ago, and the amount Apple was charging was outrageous! I can't remember exactly what that price was, but it was several thousand dollars even for their lowest tier. Not worth it in my opinion.

However, I could see paid installs (PlayHaven for example) being beneficial. Has anyone tried this and seen some results?

@nrconcepts a good place i've heard of app trailers. If you download it on the app store it is a trailer and download service. You can submit a request to get app added there.
They will show a trailer and reward the user like 1-5 cents, then give them the option to
download the app for a few more cents.
If you use it let me know how it goes.

That sounds good, I will look into that for sure! I found that using admob costs about 60 cents per install, I think app brain charges around 20 cents per install. It could be helpful to boost your rank in a specific country I guess! I will test ap trailer as well for sure.
