Windows and iTunes Store

Hello folks of Game salad Forums.

I am just beginning Game Salad on Windows. I have read through most documentation but want to make sure I understand for sure. I know things change a lot and quickly these days.

So here are my questions, I'll list the question first, then related articles or documentation i know of about it:

1. Is no way to get my Game app to the iTunes Store using Windows? - must I have a Mac?

http://cookbook.gamesalad.com/tutorials/3/parts/12
"To request an iOS Development Certificate, you first need to generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) utilizing the Keychain Access application in Mac OS X. "

2. I also know there is an approval process to get an App on the iTunes store, could anyone describe that?

3 . On the page below its says that Web, Mac and IOS publishing is free. But do I need a Game Salad ProVersion to get an App on the iTunes store? (for this page scroll to bottom)

4. Is there a way to test my App on a device using Windows? - must i have Mac? I assume that GameSalad for Windows is geared towards Android development only.

This came from the GameSalad Windows Manual Version 0.9.92:
" To publish to iOS you will need to utilize Mac Creator because Apple requires the Mac platform for the signing process."

5. While testing my Game, can i use an iPod touch G4 or must I have an iPhone G4? is there a difference in preparation for the app since the screens are the same size and resolution?

http://forums.gamesalad.com/discussion/14955/testing-game-on-ipod-touch
"but there's no substitute for testing your game on an actual iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad."

Thank you all very much for any insight you could share, sorry for the preliminary questions but I must start somewhere.

    1. You have to own a Mac, or have a friend with Mac.
    2. Yes, the app need to be tested by Apple. Everything is described in dev guidelines - it's too long to write it here.
    3. It's free to publish for iOS, but only for Mac users. Windows users can't publish apps for iOS. You can publish them for GS Arcade for free, or for Android (you need to have a Pro account).
    4. To test your app you need a Mac, and iOS dev account.
    5. You can't make games for iPhone 5 (for now). You need at least one iOS device to test.

    1. Kinda. You do need a Mac to submit to the app store, but I hear there are websites that allow you to publish through a virtual Mac, I never did it, and i'm not positive it works.

    2. Yes there is a process. It takes anywhere from a day to upwards of a month to get into the review process, usually it's 7-10 days.

    3. You do not need GameSalad Pro to submit to the Apple App Store, but you do need an Apple developers license, which is purchased from Apple. And i'm not familiar with the Windows version of the creator, but I do know on the Mac creator you need a Pro license to be able to publish to Android, I don't know if the same applies for the Windows version of the creator. Hopefully someone can chime in and answer that for you.

    4. You can test with an Android device on the Windows version of the creator, but not an iPhone.
