  • Once you're over 13, you're good to go forum wise. As regards publishing, you would need your parents to set up the iTunes account.
Thank you Very Much this is why i love game salad btw if a game i upload does it sell fast or takes time

To answer your question; The speed of downloads is not something that can be predicted, it all depends on the quality of the game and how much work you put into promoting it so that people can see it and download it if they are interested.

@MarvinAlberto Living the dream!! haha just kidding. All I did was come up with the name and made a logo, Facebook page, twitter page, and youtube page. (legal registrations aside). You might as well go ahead and do that too :P.
I still have yet to release my first game as well. Making a quality game takes a lot of time and persistence, it is not something you can, or should, rush.
Learn how to use this program, come up with a solid idea, and take your time creating it.

Who knows, maybe one of your future games will make it big. Think quality, not money.

Regardless. If your focus is the money you will likely do rather poorly. The reason is your focus is going to cause you to cut corners and rush it out. Some developers work all year and pump out app after app all for a few hundred bucks and some will spend all year on one game and make nearly a millions bucks. It all comes down to what you put in and the quality of your work and games

    Hello!

Great to see another young person want to make games! Awesome!

I think it's great that you want to make money in a way that will also likely make your parents proud.

Be warned though that it's not as easy as:

    1. make game.
    2. profit.

You have to spend £60 for a year long dev license from Apple to publish to the app store. Your parents will need to pay for that as you need a credit card to buy it.

You'll also need devices to test on, unless you know people that can help test on devices you don't have (for example, you might have an ipod Touch 4th gen, so you can test on that. But if your game is supposed to run on an iPod Touch 3rd gen, or an iPad, it'd be good to have someone that has one test it for you).

Unless you're good at art you'll have to either *learn* to be good at art or hire artists. Alternatively there are some places (including the marketplace on GS) that sell graphics or give away certain things for free. Have a look around the forums (here, for example: http://forums.gamesalad.com/discussion/9368/free-art-and-graphics-assets-backgrounds-art-packs-etc/p1 )

You'll also need to read up on copyright and things. A lot of young people (and some adults!) think it's ok to steal artwork, or music, or entire games for example. It's not and can land you in a lot of (legal) trouble!

So even before you start you should know it will take money to make money. It's not usually a huge amount for an adult, but for a 15yr old it may be!

I would focus on learning GS first. Some things to consider is using attributes, checking out some of the free templates available and the GS cookbook on this site. Just start working out how to do stuff and build your skills up!

Also - when making a game, always bear in mind how your audience will react to something. Make it bug proof. No-one likes to have their character disappear if they move off the left side of the screen for example. Make sure you predict what might go wrong and fix that!

And always try and think 'Will a player like this?' as opposed to 'how do I screw people out of their money?'. Making people happy is how businesses/money making ventures survive. Look at Apple. They make stuff that people really really want and love. They're the biggest company in the world now (but have made/learned from mistakes along the way!).

I wish you luck. My hope is always that some young person will make something so totally original and awesome that it'll blow me away.

    Be that person!

    Bravo! @quantumsheep
    @MarvinAlberto,
Release a quality game that people love to play and the money will come.
How you do that is the hard part. But when they say if all you want is money, then it won't go well for you, I agree with that & here's why:
There are much, easier and WAY faster ways to make money and if you don't love the challenge of making a great game, you will likely abandon the project for something that will make you money faster/sooner.
A part time job at McDonalds will give you a guaranteed check, where as there are no guarantees in the gaming making world.

As in most endeavours, age rarely matters as much as maturity! :)
