How to create an Android tablet & phone version of the same product ?

I've have an app for iPad and iPhone, with re-designed interfaces, features & art for each but the main game is the same.
Two versions, one for each hardware platform, job done, I submit them both.

For Android / Amazon, what do I do ? Can I submit a smartphone & tablet version, will it know the difference ?

    Just submit a single version for Android + Amazon. Android scales automatically for the different devices (well as best as it can) - it's bound not to work/be distorted on some devices as there are so many, especially older devices. Submit signed APK to Android; unsigned APK to Amazon.

    Best to resize your iPad/iPhone project or build your project to Kindle Fire res (1024x600), as it will work on most Android devices. For resizing quickly, check out the quick resizer on Deep Blue apps website.

    Would it be best to scale the res for the new Kindle Fire HD ?

    Yes good point actually. I would imagine it is best to scale for the HD, though can't be sure as nothing to test on. After aeons, we're finally getting the Kindle Fire here in the UK!
