Apple reviewers holding my popular app update hostage for 2 weeks running now

izamizam Member, PRO Posts: 503
This is a valid rant. I've sent 2 complaint emails asking them what the H*LL is going on.
I wonder if anybody has ever tried to plan for a timely release of an update to coincide with a big world event. I've planned this just right. MOST UNFORTUNATELY thanks to Apple's system of reviewing apps, and most likely for my heated complaint emails to them, I have yet to receive a reply from them nor are they going to release the app update from the "in processing" status. My timed release has just missed the big opportunity!!! It's all gone down the drain!

Can you believe this? Seriously, Apple needs a convincing competition. Their flawed system of app reviewing that takes weeks like this makes me so furious!

What else can I do about this? Where else can I bring this matter up?

you can try contacting again, with a different option on the contact form.. have done it with success, but usually once the app is challenged, it goes into unreasonable trial. i've been there and just gave up at the end. If I can land a position with the appstore team i'm gonna dig into that to see why they do that.

I think you can't do anything, this is the never ending story, for example without any logic sometimes my apps have been kept in waiting for review about 24 days!!! however others Apps have been released in 4 days!!! for me this is the never ending story ...
anyway you can try to contacting Apple again and again...good luck.

They own the pool and you enter on their terms.

In fact I think they are going to get tougher and tougher in reviews, therefore more rejections people.
I believe they will one day soon start removing apps from the store that do not turn over a certain number (d/l or revenue).

timing of your submission affects the timeFrame of the whole process

late July, early August … beaucoup school themed apps are submitted
late September … the Halloween stuff
    November … the Christmas stuff
    etc.

any time you need a time-sensitive release:
    https://developer.apple.com/appstore/contact/appreviewteam/index.html

    the appStore receives ≥ 26,000 submissions a week (L.A. Times; March 14, 2012)
    … a lot to review!

This is why it's important to have your app in early and hold back the release time through iTunes connect. You must always plan for the worst case senerio. The system is not perfect, none are so it's up to you to plan right. Being at the head of the new releases list only goes so far, an apps true success comes from the PR you do and not on the app store listing. Take control of you venture it's always up to us and not others.

I have heard of the Apple execs reading Gizmodo, so maybe put together a fine writeup and send it to the editors there?
Sorry to hear about your troubles though...
I dont recommend this. I have actually seen in Apple Documentation about rejection appeals Stating that running to the media and bashing or ranting about apple for this or that will most certainly not help your case.

I would say an apology for "my attitude in past messages" would be a good start to get them to talk to you and give you information on the real status.

    agree with @tenrdrmer

ranting and raving … gets no good results
expressing your disappointment and asking for help … often gets you what you want
