I really find it hard to respond to these requests and I should let my better judgement prevail...

@soundwaveninja I am not sure what age you are or your graphic abilities and I really do not want to patronise or break your spirit with direct criticism. The image is very basic and what many would call 'naïve'. Meaning it looks like it was drawn by a person with little visual awareness/ability.
I would say if it is for your first GS project, you are enjoying the process and making graphics then the image is great - perfect in fact, as a main actor.
If you are hoping to make a multi-million success partly based on amazing graphics competitive with the biggest games out there then it is not really OK.

Asking for criticism can invite some blows to your ego. Many struggle to accept it but if you can see it in the context of where you are in the world of visual design and artistry then you should be OK. Don't expect too much and you might be happy.

Use a pixel art graphics package perhaps and redo the design in that style I suggest.

as far as ways to improve it, the first and easiest would be find a skilled artist to do it for you.

the second would be spend the amount of time and effort to learn to be an artist. no software or "tips" will make you a good artist. it takes time and work and practice. and its not something everyone can achieve even with practice. theres no shame in not being a good at something. i would suggest if you are good at the coding side of this, then do that. and get your art done by someone else, on the marketplace theres packs of art to purchase.
