My partner says that this is too "TACKY" to use in a IOS Game,
Is he right in saying this?

Unfortunately I was unable to put the image in the question. Which is why I had to put it on mediafire.

    @Daniel

Not to be rude, but if you want an opinion on it... the style of the load button looks tacky in general...

Now i don't know what style of game you are making, but heres something i put together real quick for you. (I'm more into the cartoonish look of things cause i'm geek like that xD)

This was done with photoshop CS6, i made it in about 8 minutes total.
let me know what you think.

    OK seen it now...

    Yes it is tacky.

What is it? A 'load button'...is such a thing required? It kinda looks like Heavy Metal typography?

I am sorry @MADGames I do not want to be too negative. Can you tell me what is the context/function of the button and what the style of game is (is it a Fantasy game maybe) and I will do a design for you.

Back from more thinking about this...

Tacky can be appropriate if the designer has consciously chosen a tacky style for a good reason.
I have made some consciously tacky things because they were tacky concepts. Sometimes it is right to make it look cheap or ironically cheap.

If you have to ask then the answer is there for you already....

I agree that understanding the context of LOAD and what/where would be useful. Don't scrimp on the artwork. :-)

Well I was going for a proffesional design, so "TACKY" is not great, But it is OK now because I have made a new button. Also the reason I made a Load button because I had made all of the buttons and just copied the words from one button onto it, it is just to show an example.
May I ask, what is "TACKY" about it ?

The typography is probably wrong for readability and may in fact be irrelevant to the game style - what is the game style? Is it medieval? Heavy Metal...cause it looks like it.

The colour combination is not good, the layout, the quality of colour work - shadows - blurring.

Hey I'm not awesome at art but you should change the screen on the device for example instead of a random blue screen add a image of the game or a animation of the game in that section or a dark glossy screen.

Also add buttons to the device and change its colour to something nice that matches your game
