    Thanks @LeonardDeveloper

So I'm running into a few issues:
    1. My original idea looks to be a little to big to finish in time
    2. I was working on backgrounds which I really like but realized that it wasn't the same style so I have to save those for a later date

I also wish I understood tables better but it seems like I might have to just switch my concept which I have two ideas:

    - endless runner where I take pictures of the real world and use them for the actual levels
    - arena type battle (super crate box)

Let me know what you guys think.

I do have a weird issue, to move my guy around I have it so that it changes the linear velocity of x to a certain number depending on left or right movement. It works great but I noticed that if my character is up against a wall and I am holding one of my directional buttons and jump, he has no forward movement once he is above the wall. I would expect that once he has nothing in front of him that he is colliding with the linear velocity would kick in and he would move forward but it doesn't seem to happen.

So since I have the controls set up for it, am going to go ahead and do the arena style one, here is a screenshot of my control set up:

Ok, going to go "arena" style. Still tweaking the level and need to create enemies and collectibles but it is starting to pick up pace.

Thanks everybody, I got teleporters in place and have a coin you need to collect (like crates in super crate box). The big thing I need to work on is getting some enemies made, I've made a few but I end up not liking their designs when I put them into the game. Oh well, I'm sure I'll come up with something!

Ok, I technically have a game. It has a basic level, it has a score, it has enemies, it can be paused, and when you die you can restart. Oh and everything is under .5 mb so far :). Here take a look:

Ok I have been tweaking it since the contest and it controls much better. Plus I have a new level I'm calling launch pad:

Ok, I got the gameplay pretty solid now I'm working on making the game "juicy". So I have redone the sound effects and am adding a lot more going on in the levels in the background. For instance, now at a random time a ship flys by close to the arena and causes the whole screen to shake as you can see in this screenshot:

Ok, I changed up the enemies (whom I never liked in the first place). Now they are little robots of DOOM!

    @shebhnt

Is there a name for the font you used for your title (like the first pic you posted that said "Spaceman Steve) like in Word or do you make the font yourself?
  • shebhntshebhnt Member Posts: 74
The font is Commodore 64, you can find it at dafont.com. I may eventually make a custom one but for now it works.

    Updated gameplay video:

As you can see, now you can collect some kind of power up that adds color to the world. It also allows you to be hit and not die instantly. The idea will be that the music will also become more upbeat when you collect it. Soon there will be also a third stage of the power up and the whole level will go psychedelic!
