What type of Royalty Free License do you need?

Hey everyone,

Does anyone know what kind of license you need to use a royalty free photo in an app? I can't figure out if I need to buy the standard license or the extended. I was trying to use 123rf.com and I read through the license summary but its still not clear for apps. anyone know?

Thanks!

I ran into this problem initially too - I now use crestock.com for my images. Their terms explicitly state that it's OK to use in games, etc. So unless something has changed, they should be safe to use.

Edit: from their terms: "Our Standard Image License covers: Software applications: games, iPhoneTM and other apps, whether commercial, freeware or shareware"

I think if you use a 123rf.com you only need a standard to use the pictures/photos, as it says in its Terms and conditions..

Wow! I didn't know that something like crestock exist... It's incredible cheap if you compare to extended license from e.x. istockphoto and simillar.

Every once in a while they have sales at like $99/month for up to 9 images per day or something (vector art). I find it incredibly useful, I just wish they had more animation/character stuff.

You have to read the agreement and it have to fit your app style. Look for explicit permission to use in software or game, however, if you are developing a background (wallpapers) app, it does not apply.

As stated, http://www.crestock.com/ have a good agreement which covers games under the standard license.
