@VentoraStudios Thanks for the feedback, I guess it doesn't hurt to try. Have not seen that as an issue with my pervious games (they are no longer up since the game got sold), but maybe Kids games have a different type of market.
My next game is going to be for kids too. It's a crazy market. I will give your game a quick Facebook and Twitter shoutout. Hopefully you gain a few downloads from that.
BTW, don't know if it is relevant for your game, but I had the most success with my Kids game under the Games->Word category (stayed in the top 100 paid games for more close to year). Games->Kids and Games->Educational are very hard.
Fun and nice looking game,, I bought a copy when It first came out.. Its up there with The Police Story and A long way home... which are also both cool GS games IMO..
I bought this game when it first came out and whilst its not a game I personally play alot as endless runner type games aren't my cup of tea. My mates 6 year old boy pesters me every time I see him to play ' WILD SURF' he screams aloud. Gives him heaps of fun.
I guess the key is to get it in the hands of the kids to play.
Marketing, marketing and more marketing. If it's any consolation its summer here in the Southern hemisphere soon so some targeted marketing on surfing websites etc could help.
Lastly as you have now gone IAP I'd create a life saver character and get the life saver associations behind the game and use them to assist with marketing efforts. RNLI etc around the world pushing the character as a global identifier for Kids surf life saving.
Just a thought.
And just in case they have a character already. Offer to include him/her in the game in return for exposure.
@uptimistik angry birds, cut the rope, wheres my water and there are other famous games which I can play easily. Even small user base create big difference in downloads, sales & rankings. So @uptimistik think twice before writing anything...:)

@VentoraStudios & @EatingMyHat What I am thinking about successful games means
Unique concept + Casual Gameplay + Awesome Graphics = Successful Game
cheers,
John
Not sure about the formula... I think you are missing marketing, brand and luck in it.
So, Wild Surf is now free+IAP? Good luck with the new model, share some stats?
