What was that Game that made you think wow... Where you could really see someones vision come to life and through it transport you to their world, enriching your gaming experience. Personally I have a few favourites; Braid, a boy and his blob and Machinarium being three stand outs, these games really grabbed me with their well rounded and highly realised visuals.

So let the community know your favourites who knows we might even get a good discussion/debate out of it.

I thought both Shank and Shank II had amazing visuals. Character design was so-so, but the background art and parallax scrolling in that game were amazing.

It made me want to make my own brawler / beat'em up.

Great calls there, I love the way the internet on game consoles has allowed for 2D games to find their way into peoples homes again. That (relatively) new bloodrayne game looked phenomenal as well, not sure how it played but it definitely turned my head.

Just to show my age - Monkey Island was the game I adored the most as far as art direction, use of colours and characters goes - way back in the old Amiga days... I tried my hands on something like it a few times but never came close enough to be happy with the result.

Video games more than anything are what got me into drawing and painting, there's something special about the progression and discovery within a video game that I could never find in any other medium of entertainment. Wondering what the next world would look like, secret levels and of course as technology progressed cgi sequences etc. I feel It's not as prevalent when you get older or perhaps games leave their mark in another way with a different kind of appreciation being gained from playing.

i get pulled in different directions when I see different games. Most of the time its the cartoon style that I like the most. In the old days it was all the Dizzy games and nowadays I look to other cartoon heroes like new Megaman, Tori Tori, No zombies allowed etc...
