Im making a new game All my own art and sounds from scratch i would love your opinions please i have posted some examples the balloon is a real doodle drawn on paper.
i like the hand drawn look, but theres a lack of consistancy, the drop shadow is different on each one, even the 2 black shadows have different fall off ranges. the pink shading on the rabithing is jarring, not sure what its sposed to be conveying. find it weird that the rabit is on lined paper, but the line work on it is clearly digitaly done. the paper lines would look better on something hand drawn like the baloon.
my favorite of the 3 are the baloon, it has the most life. but i dont like the drop shadow, its too harsh and detracts from the image. a good test is to squint your eyes as you are looking at the image, you will notice how much more visible the giant black line of a shadow is.
You're drawing are great. However, if you are not layering the three objects differently, you are giving a deceptive look with, once again, the shadows. For example, the background may or may not have a drop shadow, because you don't really interact with it during play. But for other actors, remedies may be needed.
Any who, good luck with your project! Tell us when your game gets out!
Haha, the vid you posted is great. Very dream like, music works really well. Tip regarding the bunny, with the shading the human eye will pick up degrees of light and dark better with a harder contrast in the shades for example just three tones of pint would work as three block colours for shadow.
That being said it seems to work well in the game how you have it with the overall ambience. Keep drawing, maybe draw some more versions of bunny and just to practice different looks and styles to really give the game a cohesive look and POST them so we can see . Animation of the bunny was very cute.
Sorry... but it doesn't work at all for me... the art is totally inconsistent - outlines/ shadows/ vector/ hand drawn/ gradients and fonts... It's a wild mix of styles that to me just look like you tried and failed to make them match.
E.g. keep it all in the style of the cloud - no outlines, stained paper, clean shapes, cut out and with a less pronounced shadow - maybe reduce it to 50% transparancy - and use the same stained overlay on the background as well...
