Gamesalad Creator For Windows doesn't work for me!

I installed the Gamesalad Creator on my Windows Computer just for the thrills of trying it out ( I am a Mac User) and it does not work. The program installed but will not open. Every time I try to open the program, I get an error message saying something along the lines of "Windows is trying to find a solution to the problem". Has anyone else expieranced this and is there a fix?

    Join the club, it wont work on my Windows 7 machine either. The moderators will come here, tell you to submit a bug and then mark the thread as 'answered' so the community will ignore the thread and think you're issue is fixed.

    It's been 2 days since I submitted the required log files to their QA team, and have yet to get an email back.

    I get that they're probably understaffed due to it being a small company and all. But they should let the community try to help each other out(99.9% of my computer issues are solved by googling the issue and finding the solution posted in some forum somewhere), yet it wont happen here since the community will think the issue is solved.

    But at least their forums look clean and tidy right? That's what truly matters. /sarcasm

    edit - then again this community is very MAC friendly and ANTI windows, so I dunno if we'd get much help anyways. Thankfully I just got my Macbook Air in, and I am using that to complete the tutorial and try to learn how to use this product.

    @Four20

    No ones out to try and trick the community into thinking your issues is fixed or to not give you help. Submitting a bug report is what your supposed to do. If you pc meets the system requirments and your version of windows is supported and you get an error, theres no secret key pressed or commands or any tricks or anything to fix a bug. Its a issue with the software that the dev team has to fix. Thats the whole point of the windows beta. To find these issues and fix them for the public release. Theres a reason that theres not a direct download on the site. Windows creator isnt a complete public release working version. And when you signed up for it you werent just getting on a waiting list to get it. You were signing up to be a beta tester, and thats what you do. You find a bug and submit a report. Thats what beta testing is. Its just like when me and the other moderators and line cooks get the pre release versions of mac creator to test. When theres a bug we find during testing, the gs guys dont tell us what to do or what to fix it, cause theres nothing we can do. Its a issue with the software they have to fix, which again is the whole point of beta testing. We submit our feedback and bug reports and they fix it for the public version.

    I just installed as well on a Windows 7 machine. I double click the icon and nothing ever happens. It just sits there. I don't get an error or anything. It just never launches the program.

    Submit a bug report with the details of your system.

    jonmulcahy, I don't know how to get a bug report, the program never launches. If I check the Windows Event viewer it just tells me that Gamesalad.exe had a problem and it lists KERNELBASE.dll as well. I don't know anything about this stuff.

    I am currently using windows vista. It has been a while since I have updated everything. I have had this machine sitting in the closet for the last couple of years only to dig it out in order to check out the windows version of Gamesalad. I hope this issue gets straightened out as I would really like to use the Gamesalad Creator for Windows but as everyone has said, this is a beta product and will have it's "trials and tribulations" or problems starting out.

    I have a question. When the Windows creator gets an update, do the beta users get a notification?

    I installed it both to my windows xp and vista computer and they both worked, so it might not be compatible with your windows 7 computer. That's just a theory though. Hope this helped

    I know XP isn't supported so I'm surprised it's working on your XP machine.

    Ultimately I want to get a Mac as that's the only way to test games on my iPhone

    I have opened up GS for windows and when I added something, my ENTIRE laptop freezes and I have to restart. And just now when I get home, I started up my laptop and I get a blue screen. This has never happened to me on this until I installed Game Salad. I guess GS was one of those too good to be true programs for us to make new apps like the professionals do. :-(

    Please remember gamesalad for windows is a beta and I would put it more like an alpha very new and will develop. People just want to ignore the fact it is a BETA and not a developed piece of software. I installed it on a Mac running bootcamp with windows seven it runs fine.

    Those who agreed or awesomed that comment above up there don't know squat about the folks on this forum (or the people running it). I don't recall in my 3+ years here ever seeing PC bashing (that was serious). Sure GameSalad is more Mac centric, but alas, that how it got started. It sure is nice that GS put out FREE software for PC users to get their paws on, even if it is in Beta form. As stated above, it is Beta and a younger sibling to the Mac version, so of course there are going to be issues here and there. Since it's beta and since it's free, don't expect a butler named James to tend to your every need (unless you are Pro with reasonable support options).

    Also, it's my job to be hostile on the forum.

    In regards to GameSalad for Windows not running, it worked fine on my Vista PC and it is running just fine right now on my Windows 7 laptop. How's that for PC hate?

    @MegapixelIdeas

    Hey, try going to the Action Center (just do a search from the Windows Start ball). You can change the Action Center settings in there. There is an option for problem reporting. Just set it to never check for a solution. It may just be Windows getting caught up and not releasing the 'fix' to progress to GameSalad.

    *edit* Gee I just noticed how old this tread was. Anyway, maybe that will idear will work out for anyone else experiencing this issue.

    @RP I absolutely Hate that feeling right there. LOL

    I personally have had the windows creator running on several windows machine. Even had it going on my mac for a period of time. All seemed to work fine. Its just different UI wise from the mac creator and a bit more confusing IMO

    @tenrdrmer Yeah I was felling pretty dopey after that one. lol 8-}

    I have it running in windows on my mac too with no problems at all. The issue seems to be trouble with international windows users because of the difference in comas and periods as the decimal numbers.

    Just right click the installer and run as administrator

    I'm using a Windows 7 Enterprise, SP1 machine, IE 9. When clicking the Play button to preview my game, GS attempts to play it for a second, but then the whole application shuts down. Any solutions to that issue?

    I'm using 0.10.5. When I put an actor with an image in the scene and hit play. It's blank. Am I doing something wrong here?

  • Whenever I type in something on a table it always says "Gamesalad is not working. Windows will fix it". Whatever button I press it closes the window without saving. I can't publish the game i am working on because of this glitch.
