My goals for Vortex are to continue to add content free of charge, in the form of levels and skins, continue to improve controls and performance, and add new features such as challenge modes of existing levels.
Oh, and take it easy on me, this is my first Gamesalad game and first time using After Effects + Final Cut to make a trailer!
Let me know what you guys think and please leave a review if you can!

I look forward to playing this myself!
I primarily drew my inspiration for a 2D portal game from this: http://portal.wecreatestuff.com/portal.php
Taking liberties with a unique story, art style, features (like customization) etc.

The game looks nice (I haven't been able to play it yet) but I noticed in your trailer you have text saying "A Mobile Game Like No Other" While I understand your point here, it is just not true! It looks like took inspiration from Jon with the name, YouTube comments and gameplay. I'll leave a more in-depth review once I give it a play.
Best of luck,
Henry
There are hundreds of games on the app store containing the word "Vortex" and I already stated that my inspiration drew directly from the wildly successful flash version of portal (http://portal.wecreatestuff.com/portal.php).
After spending the last 8-9 months on Vortex, I'm pretty insulted to have any comparisons made between my app and his, as the two are obviously very different in terms of gameplay, art and sound direction, and features.
There are hundreds of vortex games in the app store, but only one portal style game, and it's mine. Your app and mine are extremely similar in gameplay, the only difference is the sound and graphic style. Sme of your level designs are extremely close to mine. Your level select screen is almost the same layout.
Now your insulted to have your game compared to mine? My game came out over 2 years ago. My game was freatured by apple on 4 separate occasions. My game has a legitimate app store rating, I didn't have my friends and family give fake 5 star reviews.
I'm mad you released an extremely similar game under the same name. but you obviously don't seem to care. I guess I'll just contact apple.

You can rehash games all you want. No one owns an idea. I just got a rather disheartening vibe from this thread. @jonmulcahy noted the similarities then was told his game was the Doom to your Crysis. Kinda harsh again.
If anything, both games are the Wolfenstien 3D to Valve's "Portals." And I fail to see much difference between either game and the flash version other than the different art. I don't think neither can claim the moral or creative high ground here. The only thing either of you should probably consider in ratcheting up the civility a few notches.
Then there is the behavior of his friends leaving bad iTunes and YouTube commends about the game because I said something.

As for deluding yourself into thinking that you own the common english word "Vortex", that is for Apple to decide, but I for one am upset this rampant trashing of my game was permitted.
Especially when the majority of GameSalad games are blatant rips of traditional game franchises (such as the much praised SCZ: Beyond Dead's rip of Metroid) or the daily rip of Mario-esque platforming.
In either case, I would still appreciate any feedback on the gameplay of my game.
I don't own the word vortex, but I do have a prior art claim on the game / subject name.
I don't care about the content of the game. I care about the name.
Plus, you seem to ignore the smear tactics you and your friends employed. Thas the only rampant trashing I've seen in this thread.

"To whom it may concern,
Jonathan believes he owns the exclusive rights to the common english word "Vortex" , a word used in many games and utilities on the app store. He also believes that he owns the exclusive rights to make games with those types of mechanics, when in fact several others on the app store, such as the games "Wormholes" and "Gateway" use the same mechanics.
My game, "Vortex - The Escape", not only has a significantly different title from Jonathan's "V is for Vortex" but also has a significantly different art style, sound design, and gameplay mechanics that greatly differentiate between his game and mine.
Conclusively, I believe his claims are invalid, designed only to hamper sales of my application based on the irrational and inapplicable delusion that he has intellectual property rights over these generic concepts."
I believe this is in Apple's hands now, with the outcome determining who owes whom an apology.
I also refuse to respond to your warmongering attempts by claiming that I am responsible for the actions of my channel's 600+ subscribers and 366,000+ viewers.
This comment: (while not a graceful statement, still not completely incorrect, aside from the name comment.)
Then this reply: (subjective)
Then *downhill
:-?
Honestly, you both made a "Portals" homage on the mobile plat from. You may as well both used a name like "Wormhole: the Vortex of Portaling."
Both games look fun. Pats on the back to you both, on me!
There is a significant lack of chillaxing going on here. :P
Otherwise, I appreciate any and all I feedback I have received and look forward to more regarding my trailer, art style, and gameplay!
If you want to be treated as a professional, start acting like one.

I have been doing product reviews and videos on youtube for years, and as a result have a (albeit relatively small) but devoted fan base of people who support my ventures.
I can not be held responsible for their actions.
I do believe that they are acting like children, but unfortunately, most of our target audience, along with youtube's primary user base are probably kids.
With Apple's approval, I hope we can set this behind us @jonmulcahy , and I wish you the best of luck with your current and future apps!
I think this thread has run its course, closing it.
