Here is a list of HILARIOUS available topics for the game jam this weekend:

    One of my favorites:

    Genre : Puzzle

Try to imagine a game in which you have an imaginary friend who doesn’t believe you are real, you must convince them that you are.

If anyone is planning on participating, please update us in this forum thread. We would love to see GameSalad represented!

Well that was a tiring weekend! But a great experience. It was good to meet Peter Molydeux too - he was really nice to everyone at the London event. GS member @MetzoPaino organised the London event and he did a great job.

That was the first game jam I'd been to and the atmosphere was great. I formed a group with two others - Wolfgang Graebner (coding) and Sarah Ford (art). And I made the dynamic soundtrack. It was actually really nice to just concentrate on the music (the fun stuff) while someone else handled all the code (the hard stuff).

We made a flash game controlled by Kinect (xbox controller) based on the Molydeux tweet: "Game where you must hold onto your mother’s hand. Let go for more than X seconds and it’s game over."

We were pretty happy with the game - on the Friday we set out what we wanted to do with and the finished version on the Sunday pretty much hit what we were going for.

If you have a pc and kinect you can download it from here: (install instructions with link to the kinect sdk provided)

So I'm already signed up for the game jam at the end of April as mentioned by @old_kipper http://www.gamehack.co.uk/index.html#about

So for anyone interested I posted a full write-up of Molydeux 2012 on my site. You can also download an improved version of the game from the same page. If anyone actually has a kinect controller and pc?

And the artist, Sarah Ford posted the development process on her blog.

It always feels good to have a finished game done in a small amount of time. The event put me in the mood for doing more interesting things with dynamic music. So in between finishing Ao I reckon I'll release a music game or two along the way.

A couple of peeps will have read the game logic I used for the audio in Honey Tribe, which basically meant telling the audio to trigger only at specific intervals of the game.time so that all layers of audio stay in time.

Our MolyJam game was made in flash and the coder thought that it would take home a while to do that (and we only had 48 hours). So to simplify things we just had all the audio start playing silently at the start and loop. And then tied the volumes to in-game events and attributes.

I don't know why I didn't think of doing that before! It's such a simple method but works really well. (Obviously not so good if you want a particular layer of audio to start playing at the beginning of it's loop cycle on a specific in-game event. So the above method is better for that).
