Hello. I'm new to this and would like some help and advice. I have no clue how to make 2D or 3D artwork that I can export to Gamesalad and use for my games. I also am not sure if I need a program or not. Any tips?

I use Photoshop and Illustrator for all my work.
Your best bet might be to hire an artist to do the work for you.

2D Seashore; Gimp; Inscape (Vector)
most 3D art program can export 2D png (Blender is free)
your artwork should be imported into GS in the png format (GS will import .jpg and .bmp …but will convert them to .png)
72 dpi (ppi) … current maximum size is 1024x1024 pixels
if you made that avatar … you will have no problems making artwork for GS!
Welcome and enjoy your new adventure!
